Troy, Michigan (November 14, 2014) – In just two weeks, the Midwest Indoor Racing
Series will begin the third season of operation with the running of the 2nd Annual
Thanksgiving Classic Weekend at Kellogg Arena. The Battle Creek, Michigan facility
will have hosted MIRS, the most of any arena in the series' brief two-year history,
with the fourth and fifth overall appearances to kick off the 2014/2015 winter racing
season. For the new season, MIRS will introduce the presence of one of the most
established organizations in the country.
Champion Racing Association (CRA) Powered by JEGS, which sanctions the ARCA/
CRA Super Series, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, CRA Late Model Sportsman Series
and CRA Street Stock Series, will play a major role within MIRS for the upcoming
campaign. CRA Series Director, Glenn Luckett has joined the MIRS family and will
serve as the new Race Director for the 2014/2015 winter racing season. In addition,
CRA Director of Operations/Head Scorer, Greg Wood will join the indoor ranks as
well and is the new Head Scorer for the upcoming indoor season. Mr. Wood will
oversee the new transponder scoring system that will be used at every MIRS event
during the 2014/2015 Winter Racing Season. Combined, the veteran Officials bring
almost 50 years of motorsports experience with them to MIRS.
"I look forward to working with Scott and the team he has assembled for the Midwest Indoor Racing Series events." stated Luckett as he prepares for his first event with MIRS. "This will definitely be different than our (CRA) events we have outdoors and will be our first experiences with the indoor races, but hopefully our presence will help those events be very successful." he added.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Midwest Indoor Racing Series events this winter." added Mr. Wood. "It will be very interesting to learn the nuances of indoor racing, and meet some of the people who are involved with them. I believe the series is positioning itself to be even more successful, and it's our goal to help as much as we can." he remarked.
The two voices of CRA will also serve in the same roles for MIRS throughout the 2014/2015 winter racing season. Matt Prieur, who is also the Director of Communications/P. A. Announcer for CRA, returns for the third season of indoors racing in both roles and will be joined this upcoming winter by fellow voice of CRA, Adam Mackey. Both veteran announcers have been on the microphone for some of the most prestigious races in the country over the years including the recent 43rd running of the Winchester 400 Weekend at Winchester Speedway (IN) on October 10-12th.
Several returning MIRS Officials for the 2014/2015 winter racing season also work in various roles for CRA during the outdoors season. In addition to CRA having a presence within MIRS, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) as well as Toledo Speedway and Flat Rock Speedway will have officials working the winter racing season.
