Format Change For 2015 Toledo Speedway Opener; ARCA/CRA Super Series & ARCA Gold Cup Late Models For 7-Up Twin 100s

ARCA Midwest Tour to join ARCA/CRA Super Series for third year in a row

Toledo, Ohio (November 10, 2014) – Toledo Speedway officials have announced a

format change for the first race of the 2015 season at the ½ mile paved oval, with

two distinctly different types of Super Late Model racing in action on the track for

the 7-Up Twin 100s Saturday, April 11. The stock-appearing, template-bodied

ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS will open its season in a 100-lap event,

with participation from teams and officials of the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by

Scag and Lester Buildings.  In addition, the outlaw-bodied ARCA Gold Cup Late

Model Series will open its season with a separate 100-lap event. Race time on

April 11 is 3 p.m., and a rain date of Sunday, April 12 has been established.

The schedule calls for an optional open practice Friday afternoon, April 10.  More

details on the entire weekend will be released in the New Year.

The spring event, which is the unofficial kick-off for pavement Late Model racing in

the Michigan-Ohio area, was introduced as the Easter Bunny 200 in April 2012 and

featured the template-outlaw late model combination. Since 2013 it has been the

7-Up 150 for the ARCA CRA Super Series and ARCA Midwest Tour race teams

competing together in 150-lap race.  Johnny VanDoorn was the 2013 winner, while Brian Campbell took the victory in 2014.

“The 2015 format of template and outlaw Late Models running together has been successful previously at Toledo,” noted Ron Drager, track owner and promoter.  “Based on a number of factors, the time is right to make this adjustment. With the two types of race cars we expect to grow the number of race teams participating as well as the race fan attendance. Our goal is to expand on the regional appeal of the concept—it’s the best of Late Model racing, and it is the early spring kickoff to the racing season. We appreciate the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group, through its 7-Up brand, for the continued support of the event and promotional assistance in bringing this major event to Toledo.”
