Veteran Rick Turner Ready For One More Shot At The Winchester 400 Rifle
Mitch Smith Auto Service on board for the biggest race of the season (Special from Rick Turner Racing)
October 9, 2014
Yorktown, Indiana (October 9, 2014) – The 43rd Running of the Winchester 400 is set
for the legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway
(IN). The historic facility is located west of the Indiana / Ohio state line and east of
Muncie in Winchester, Indiana is the home track of veteran Rick Turner and there's
not one other race on the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS schedule that
is more important to the 'Y-Town Hustler' than the 400 at his home track.

In the last ARCA/CRA race at the famed high-banks, the 56-year-old gave eventual
winner, Cody Coughlin all he could handle in the Winchester 100 on Labor Day
Monday, September 1st before finishing a season high second. It's been a great
season for the is driver who is fifth in the season long points standings and will finish
at least there in the final 2014 ARCA/CRA points standings no matter what happens
in the 400. He has one top five finish, his second place effort at Winchester to go
with five top 10 showings.

In the last race at the immaculate Lucas Oil Raceway (IN), located west of
Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana for the McGunegill Engine Performance CRA Fall
Brawl 2014 Presented by EDCO Welding on September 28th, Turner started on the
outside of the front row. Turner flexed some muscle early in the EDCO Welding 100
Presented by Quarter Master by leading the first 38 laps. He then cut a right rear tire
and was forced to pit, but fought his way back into the top 10 to finish a solid ninth.

"The car was real good at LOR. We led for a little bit and I know we had something for them in the end. But we cut that tire down and had to pit. But man the guys did a good job getting me back out we came out 24th and drove our way back up to ninth," Turner relayed upon reflecting on the last race he ran. "Makes me really look forward to the 400. We had a great car there too. Hopefully we can improve one position, but there will be some great competitors running and the whole team is ready for it." He added.

In addition to the race being his favorite of the year, the all-time career starts leader in the ARCA/CRA Super Series will have Mitch Smith Auto Service on the hood for the 400 as primary sponsor for the weekend. "We have worked with Mitch before and it is great to have them back on the hood for this race. They are a great sponsor in late model racing it is nice to see people like Mitch Smith Auto Service helping out the racers." Turner states.

Mitch Smith Auto Service is very excited to sponsor good friend Rick Turner; 'the 'Y-Town Hustler' for this year’s Winchester 400. We just love being involved with the #26 team; these guys are great, as well as Good Friends." Added Mitch Smith. "After T.J. Reaid ran into complications for making this year’s event, it was only natural to be involved with Turner Racing.  Our hats are off for them letting us be involved; our whole shop is excited as we look forward to another great event." He added.

"I know it seems like I get all the credit, but it’s all because of this crew who is with me and do all of the hard work needed to make this team successful." Turner appreciatively said. It is great to have a local company like Mitch Smith Auto Service come on board to sponsor our racecar. He is a 4-time NHRA Drag Racing Champion with over 15 NHRA drag racing event wins and he wants to sponsor a circle track car. That is really cool." Turner ended.
