Middletown, Indiana (October 9, 2014) – The Winchester 400 Weekend is a special
race for Middletown, Indiana veteran, Scott Neal. The championship winning crew
chief and car owner holds the race in such high regard that he'll be grabbing his old
fire suit out of the closet and will look to add a Winchester rifle to his collection by
entering the 43rd Running of the prestigious race on October 10-12th at the famed
1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway (IN) in Winchester,
Indiana.
His weekend starts out on Friday, October 10th as his driver, Howie Lettow Memorial
Rookie; Dalton Armstrong competes in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by
Chevrolet Performance portion of the weekend, which kicks things off that night with
the running of the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com. Neal will once again be
on top of the pit box calling the shots for the open-wheeled graduate from New
Castle, Indiana.
"We are taking two great cars to Winchester this weekend. Dalton was running in
fourth on Labor Day Weekend when he had a tire go down. I'm expecting to see a
good run from him." Stated Neal as he prepares two machines for the short trip to
the legendary high-banks. "This Sunday is my Daytona 500. The last race to win on my bucket list. I have a great car and I'm looking forward to racing with some of the best in the country." He added.
Neal has made two appearances in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS in 2014 with both of those races coming in the JEGS Triple Crown Series. He recorded an impressive sixth place finish in the Redbud 300 at near-by Anderson Speedway (IN) on June 14th. The 44-year-olds' finish was even more impressive considering he didn't even take the green flag due to axle problems.
As for Armstrong, he's currently second in the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie standings and that's where he will stay no matter what happens at Winchester. He's also fifth overall in the points and can fall to no worse than sixth at the end of the 100-lapper in Eastern Indiana. In 12 points races, the 20-year-old has one top five finish, a fourth place showing at Anderson Speedway (IN) on July 26th to go with an impressive eight top 10 finishes.
"I'm really looking forward to another chance at Winchester, We had a great car and had a tire go down while running fourth, which sent me into the wall." Explained Armstrong as he prepares for his final JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race of the 2014 racing season. "I'm excited about another opportunity in the new chassis that SNR has for me. Looking for a good finish to the season." He ended.
For the Winchester 400 Weekend, Armstrong and Neal will both field identical #4 Scott Neal Racing / Ford Fusions sporting sponsorship decals and graphics from WinField Solutions and Baker Crop Insurance as well as Motion Motors, Norrick Petroleum, Luellen LP Gas, Schoenfeld Headers, Ultra Cool Brake Fans, PGG Enterprises, QS Components and M.P.H.
