Salem, Indiana (October 8, 2014) – The 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented
by Chevrolet Performance 2014 points season will come to a close with the
Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com this Friday on the famous High Banks of
Winchester Speedway, part of the huge 43rd Running of the Winchester 400
Weekend. This is the fourth season for the crate motor touring series sanction by
Champion Racing Association with the support of Title Sponsor JEGS and
Presenting Sponsor Chevrolet Performance.
Birch Run, Michigan native Dan Leeck comes into Friday’s event with a 20 point
lead in the series Championship points over Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Award
Presented by Howe Racing points leader Grant Quinlan. Leeck is still seeking his
first series win, but his consistent top finishes all season have kept him on top of the
points heading into the season finally. Leeck had some misfortune at the series last
event at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 28th when mechanical issues during the
race left him with 20th place finish, reducing his substantial lead after Quinlan raced
to a second place finish. The 15 year old Quinlan has scored two series wins so far
this season and just needs to start the race to claim the Rookie of the Year Title.
Leeck is looking to claim his first series Championship after finishing third in series
points last year.
Series veteran Josh Nelms comes into Friday’s event in third place in series points,
he is 22 points behind Quinlan. The Championship is out of reach for Nelms and the
TK Racing Team, but he can still pass Quinlan for second, and is seeking his first
series win. Rookie Dalton Armstrong is in fourth place, he is 53 points behind Nelms
and looks to bring the Scott Neal Racing Team a victory on Friday and claim his first
series win.
16 year old Hunter Baize knows coming into Friday’s race the worse he can finish in
points is fifth. Baize is currently only 10 points behind Armstrong. Baize got a series
win at Columbus Motor Speedway in May, and has turned his streak of bad luck
around with four top five finishes in the series last five races.
Brothers Jaxson and Marc Jacobs come into Friday’s event sixth and seventh in
points, with the pair only separated by 14 points in the sibling rivalry. Rookie Cole
Rouse is in eighth place in points, he is 25 points behind Marc Jacobs.
The entry list for Friday’s race is full of all the top JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour
competitors, besides the top eight in points, also entered is Trent Snyder, a winner
of the last two series Winchester Labor Day Weekend events and 2013 series
Rookie of the Year Corey Deuser, who’s dramatic last lap pass won this event last
year!
Other series part-time competitors entered include Auto City Speedway winner Eric
Lee, Springport Motor Speedway season opener winner JJ Haley, also Jack Smith,
Kyle Hayden, Keith Sterkowitz, Kody Evans, Tommy Cook, Mike Stacy, Jon Beach,
Colin Nickolai and ARCA/CRA Super Series Kil-Kare winner Brandon Oakley. 13
year old Harrison Burton, son of NASCAR car great Jeff Burton, is entered to make
his second series points start of 2014 and Ohio’s Cody Robinson who is entered to
make his series debut.
