Ross Kenseth Ready For Winchester 400; Chance At 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship

Jenison, Michigan (October 8, 2014) – While it's not an improbable task for Ross

Kenseth, the 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS Championship is

within reach for the Little Chute, Wisconsin standout. The 43rd Running of the

Winchester 400 is the biggest race of the season, by far, for the 21-year-old as not

only will he be in search of his second Winchester Rifle for winning one of the most

prestigious races in the country, he's also hanging on to those title hopes in his first

season racing for Mike Blackmer's Boyne Machine Company Racing Team.

"The Winchester 400 is easily one of the top two races of the year for Super Late

Models; it's always exciting going back to a place with so much history." The now

Jenison, Michigan resident remarked as he prepares for the 400 at Winchester

Speedway (IN) on October 10-12th. "I'm really looking forward to working with (Crew

Chief) Rich Lushes for the first time; he's had a lot of success with many different

drivers. We've both had success there so I'm hoping we can come out of there with

another rifle." The 2012 Winchester 400 Winner added.

In order for Kenseth to win the 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship, he

needs to gain 26 points on current point's leader and defending series champion,

Travis Braden. Which makes Winchester 400 Pole Qualifying so important for

Kenseth and crew. A chance to gain as many as 10 valuable markers on Braden will

be on the line at the fast 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval in Eastern Indiana. By earning extra points in Qualifying, the deficit to overcome in the 400 becomes easier for Kenseth.

Kenseth trails Braden by just 25 points heading into the Winchester 400. He has collected five top five finishes with a season high showing of a third at Anderson Speedway (IN) back on April 26th. What's kept Kenseth within the top two in the season long point's chase is the whopping 12 top 10 showings in 13 series points' races during the year. He also has one Fast Qualifier Award, which came at Flat Rock Speedway (MI) back on August 16th.

"All we can do is the best that we can and whatever happens will happen. We can't control what Travis (Braden) does just like he can't control what we do. We'll go into the 400 with the mindset to win the race and let the points fall where they may," Continued Kenseth. "It would be nice to get the championship for (Car Owner) Mike (Blackmer) and this entire Boyne Team though. So we'll see what happens and sort it all out in the end."

In his last ARCA/CRA race at the 0.686 mile semi-banked paved oval of Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) for the McGunegill Engine Performance CRA Fall Brawl 2014 Presented by EDCO Welding on September 28th, the ARCA/CRA Super Series headlined the weekend with the running of the EDCO Welding 100 Presented by Quartermaster. Kenseth qualified third quick, more importantly, ahead of Braden who qualified sixth quick. He would also finish ahead of the reigning champion in the race by grabbing a fourth place effort, just ahead of Braden who finished in fifth, gaining a total of seven points in the process.

"We had a really solid car all weekend at LOR, but just didn't have the track position or forward drive to compete with the 98 (Daniel Hemric) car." Explained Kenseth after the race in the Circle City. "We did what we went there to do and beat the 01 in qualifying and the race. Wish we would have been battling for the 'W' at the end, but it was a solid weekend."

In a change of gears for Kenseth, the son of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star, Matt Kenseth, he would make his second career start in the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards at the 1.5 mile Kansas Speedway (KS) on October 3rd and came away with an impressive third place showing. "Going into the weekend we were hoping to get a solid top 10. Being a smaller team and not having any 1.5 mile experience I don't think the weekend could have been any better for us. I learned a ton, and had a blast racing for second at the end with Josh Williams."

"It's cool being able to race that hard at those speeds and not get a scratch on the car." Kenseth offered after the race. "I am really grateful for the opportunity Tony Blanchard and the race 101 team gave me, I was happy to be able to run up front with Boyne and Pit Stops for Poverty on the car with not having much ARCA experience." He ended.
