Brandon Watson Prepared For ‘Biggest Test’ of 2014 Season
43rd running of the Winchester 400 is next for Canadian Rookie (Special from Brandon Watson Racing)
October 7, 2014
Stayner, Ontario (October 7, 2014) – With the final event of the 2014 ARCA/CRA
Super Series looming, tour rookie Brandon Watson is counting the moments until he
hits the high banks of Winchester Speedway.

“There’s really no speedway on the planet that can compare to Winchester,” offers
Watson. “The rush you get when you walk in there, it’s completely different. There’s
an energy that’s completely unique”

Though Watson has laps around Winchester in both Pro Late Model and Super Late
Model competition, this weekend will mark his first career Winchester 400
appearance.

“It’s the fastest track we go to. Things happen in a hurry there,” says Watson of
Winchester. “It’s an honour to be a part of the 400 weekend. I’ve been there for the
JEGS/CRA All Star Tour event the night before the 400, but this will be my first time
being part of the big show”

“There isn’t a Super Late Model driver alive that doesn’t want to win this race,”
explains Watson when asked of the event’s prestige. “Teams come from across
North America to take their shot at it. This is the biggest test our program will face
all year. It’s a special atmosphere – and I would give anything to walk out with the
win on Sunday”

After battling their way through a bevy of mechanical issues early in the season, Watson’s family-owned effort appears to have turned a corner, carving out top-10 finishes in 3 of their last 4 events with the ARCA/CRA Super Series tour.

“So much of this season has been defined by the unknown,” says Watson. “We started with a car that we didn’t have a lot of laps on, and have been travelling to speedways in which we’ve never competed at with a Super Late Model. It’s been all about learning, this season”

“What we lack in experience we definitely try to make up for in determination,” continues Watson. “It’s such a huge motivator to see our hard work start to pay off. We’re happy with our top-10 finishes, and hope that we can break into the top-5 at Winchester”
