Career High Finish Has 18-Year-Old Dominique Van Wieringen Optimistic Heading To Owosso Speedway

Corunna, Michigan (September 5, 2013) – It's been a learning experience running as a

Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title contender in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour

Presented by Chevrolet Performance for 18-year-old Dominique Van Wieringen. While

learning a new type of car, a Template Super Late Models fitted with a Crate Motor, the

Canadian teenager has also been gelling with her team made up almost entirely of new

members for 2013.

All of the hard work and perseverance is starting to pay off for the Amherstburg, Ontario

driver as she scored a career high finish of a ninth, despite losing Power Steering at one

of the most intimidating tracks in the country; the legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked

paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana as the JEGS/CRA teams

headlined the first official day of the World Stock Car Festival on September 1st with the

running of the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com.

"Going into Winchester was different but fun. We managed to get a practice session in

on Saturday before it rained. The next day, we set out on the first practice and every

practice after, we were fast, consistent and the car was good." Explained Van Wieringen

upon reflecting on her first experience at Winchester. She would then Qualify an

impressive seventh quick and after the inversion draw of a five, Van Wieringen would start

the race from the inside of the fourth row. During the race, while running within striking

distance of the top five, she would pick up the VDL Fuel Systems Hot Lap of the Race Award by turning the fastest lap overall of the event.

"The team and I were all extremely happy with the time in Qualifying. We were ready to go into the race. Starting out, I tried to get under Anderson (Bowen) but couldn't seal the deal. But I continued to work forward through each session between the red flags." She continued. "It was a lot of fun racing, but going into the last restart, just as we were heading out of four, I lost all my power steering and almost hit the wall. I then had to keep the car stable and away from the wall for the last 18 laps. It was hard but I did it and kept the car in one piece. Overall it was fun but I would prefer to race with power steering from now on." She laughed.

The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour is in the midst of a four races in four weekends stretch and the next race on the schedule is at a track where her and her team have plenty of experience on; the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Owosso Speedway, located just 30 minutes west of the team race shop in Ovid, Michigan on Saturday, September 7th for the running of the 3rd annual Big 'O' Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com.

With her recent move to Charlotte, North Carolina as an international student at the University of North Carolina / Charlotte, and the Canadian teenager will make the trip up to Owosso after classes. "The team and I are pumped and ready to go. (Crew Chief) Jimmy (D. Smith) knows the track and I have been there before." Van Wieringen added. "I think we're going to do quite well there and can't wait to get on the track again." She ended.

Going into Winchester, she is now sitting fifth in a torrid dogfight of a freshman title chase, 119 markers back of the rookie points lead and she also moved up to ninth overall in the standings, 64 points outside of the coveted top five with  one top 10 finish, which came in her last outing at Winchester to go with five top 15 finishes so far this season.
