Late Season Charge Has 18-Year-Old Dominique Van Wieringen Looking Forward To Return Trip To LOR
Two Top 10s in a row has Team Brimming with Confidence (Special from DuroByte Motorsports)
September 20, 2013
Corunna, Michigan (September 20, 2013) – The DuroByte Motorsports Team with 18-year-
old driver, Dominique Van Wieringen knew it would only be a matter of time before there
rookie driver in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance would
start showing the talent and perseverance that carried her to a Track Championship in
2012. With two points races to go in the 2013, the Canadian teenager is out to prove that
she is a bona fide contender in the series and her last two races have shown that she
belongs.

A 10th place finish in the Springport Fall Brawl 100 Presented by JEGS.com at the site of
her 2012 Track Title, in the tracks weekly Outlaw Super Late Models division, the fast
3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Springport Motor Speedway in Springport,
Michigan on September 14th proved that her career high JEGS/CRA finish of a ninth two
weeks previous at the legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banks of Winchester Speedway in
Winchester, Indiana was no fluke.

"The team and I were excited going into Springport, as I had a bunch of experience from
last year." The Amherstburg, Ontario native stated. "I missed the Friday practice due to
school (She's a Freshman at the University of North Carolina / Charlotte), but we all still
felt good about the race. As we started practice Saturday morning, we had new problems
with the power steering. The team worked hard and had to sacrifice the two half hour practice sessions to solve the problem. We couldn't completely fix the problem so we headed into qualifying with our fingers crossed." She added.

Despite power steering issues, which also occurred late in the race at Winchester, she manage to qualify a career high third quick out of 27 cars on hand and after the inversion draw, she would start the race from the outside of the third row. "When the race got underway, we had many cautions to deal with. Driving us forward and back, then the car started becoming a handful. As I raced to put myself higher, I struggled to keep the car under me. Overall, we finished well for the conditions placed on us." She added.

A return trip to the 0.686 mile progressively banked paved oval of Lucas Oil Raceway, located west of Indianapolis in Clermont, Indiana on Saturday-Sunday, September 21-22nd is up next as the P.A.D.D. (People Against Driving Distracted) 100 Presented by Chevrolet Performance & T.J. Racing Lubricants is up next. In her only other appearance at LOR, Van Wieringen came away with a 14th place finish back on July 26th.

"I'm excited to go back to Lucas Oil and race there again to see if I can do better with my previous knowledge of the track." She continued. "I also hope that we can end races early enough so I can drive back to school in North Carolina at a reasonable time." She laughed.

With her recent move to Charlotte, North Carolina as an international student at the University of North Carolina / Charlotte, the Canadian teenager will make the trip up to the Circle City on Friday after classes and leave immediately after the races on Sunday for Monday classes. "The team and I are pumped and ready to go. (Crew Chief) Jimmy (D. Smith) and the entire crew have been working so hard and I think we're going to do quite well there and can't wait to get on the track again." She ended.

Heading into LOR, Van Wieringen is sitting third in the chase for the Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title in JEGS/CRA. She is still mathematically alive in the 2013 freshman title fight, but does need help in the last two events. She is 74 points out of second in the rookie battle while sitting seventh overall in the points. She has two top 10 finishes with a season high of a ninth coming at Winchester over the Labor Day Weekend to go with six top 15 finishes.

For the rest of the 2013 campaign, Van Wieringen’s Black #5 Ford Fusion as well as her White #95 Outlaw Super Late Model and her 15-year-old brother, Tristan Van Wieringen's Black #81 open-wheeled Modified will all carry sponsorship stickers on the side of the each machine from primary sponsor: DuroByte Incorporated as well as Nalett Trucking, R-R Salvage, Mert's Specialty Meats and M.P.H.
