Corunna, Michigan (August 9, 2013) – It's been a season of ups and downs for 18-year-
old Dominique Van Wieringen in her rookie campaign within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars
Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. The Amherstburg, Ontario freshman has
shown that she can compete with the best the tour has to offer and was exceptionally
fast at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio back over the Memorial Day
Holiday Weekend.
She's been consistent all season long, which is the reason why she is third in the Howie
Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title chase and seventh overall in the JEGS/CRA
points chase. and the next race on the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour schedule is at a track
where she has turned some laps on in the past. The tricky 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-
banked paved oval of Auto City Speedway, located north of Flint in Clio, Michigan as the
Silver Bullet 100 Presented by Coors Light & JEGS.com is set for Saturday, August 10th.
Going into the Silver Bullet 100 Presented by Coors Light & JEGS.com, she is currently
third in the freshman title chase, 60 markers back of the rookie points lead and she is
seventh overall in the standings 48 points outside of the coveted top five. Van Wieringen
and her DuroByte Motorsports Team are ready for the race at Auto City and know that a good finish here could propel her right into the thick of the rookie title chase with current leading rookies, Corey Deuser and Jake Griffin.
"I'm so ready for that track. I've race there in a Modified once and have been there a few more times helping my brother (15-year-old Tristan Van Wieringen) race there." She explained. "It's been a learning experience going to all of these new tracks, but looking ahead on the schedule three of the next four races are at tracks I've raced at before, so hopefully that'll help move us up in the rookie standings." She added as she prepares for her move to Charlotte, North Carolina as an international student at the University of North Carolina / Charlotte.
In her last race, the Night of the Stars 100 Presented by JEGS.com at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana back on July 26th, she qualified 16th in the 29-car field and came home with a 14th place showing. "Lucas Oil is the fastest track I've been to yet, and huge as well. During the race, the first leg was kind of slow. But then I started picking it up and trying to work my way through the field." She explained.
"At one point I was racing against (Current Points Leader) Cody (Coughlin) and that was fun. We were neck and neck with neither one of us wanting to give the other the advantage. Then I was behind Kenny Wallace but was about to make a move when a caution came out. Then I was racing the last 10 laps with three others and it was a hairy situation. But the car came home and one piece and we raced well." She ended.
For the rest of the 2013 campaign, Van Wieringen’s Black #5 Ford Fusion as well as her White #95 Outlaw Super Late Model and her 15-year-old brother, Tristan Van Wieringen's Black #81 open-wheeled Modified will all carry sponsorship stickers on the side of the each machine from primary sponsor: DuroByte Incorporated as well as Nalett Trucking, R-R Salvage, Mert's Specialty Meats and M.P.H.
