Dryden, Michigan (July 25, 2013) – After taking some unwanted time off from the JEGS/
CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance due to a crash at Salem
Speedway in Salem, Indiana back on June 22nd, Jimmy Novak is set to return to action
on Friday, July 26th at the famed Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana, located just
west of Indianapolis for the running of the Night of the Stars 100 Presented by JEGS.com.
I can't wait to get to Lucas Oil Raceway this Friday. I think we can break this bad luck
streak and hopefully get the win we've been working so hard for." The Dryden, Michigan
driver stated as he and his Novak Motorsports Team continue final preparations before the
five hour trip south. "We've had some good runs this year and know now that we can
compete in this series. Hopefully now we can show that." He added.
In the Touchtone Energy 100 Presented by Focus Eyewear & JEGS.com at Salem, he
qualified seventh quick and was up to as high as third before an accident took him out of
competition. "At Salem I was pretty excited to run there because of the high banks like
Winchester. We usually always have good runs at Winchester so I knew what to expect
going to Salem." He continued.
"A caution came out with 20 to go and on the restart we were just in the wrong place wrong time and ended up in a wreck after contact with another car," the 20-year-old explained. "We ended up putting a right front tie rod sleeve on and took the front fenders off to finish the race." He ended. Despite the mangled racecar, Novak still came home with a ninth place showing.
Despite missing two points races in JEGS/CRA action, Novak is still 17th in the points chase just 31 points out of the top 15 with two top 10 finishes including a season high of an eighth after winning the Last Chance Race at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio back on May 25th in the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com.
