14-Year-Old Jake Griffin Hoping All The Bad Luck On Pavement Is Gone Heading To Dixie Motor Speedway
Despite Rough Start, Sitting Fourth in JEGS/CRA Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie Title Chase (Special from Scott Neal Racing)
June 5, 2013
Quincy, Illinois (June 5, 2013) – Heading into the Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS, the
third race of the 2013 racing season within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by
Chevrolet Performance at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan, 14-year-old
Jake Griffin is sitting in fourth place in a loaded Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the
Year title chase. This is despite a start to the year not to his liking. He hopes that the
third race is the charm.

"I've watched videos on Dixie and it looks like a pretty fun place, decent speeds and a
lot of room to race." The Quincy, Illinois teenager offered as he and his Scott Neal
Racing Team prepare for the trip north. "Daniel (Hemric, driving for Scott Neal Racing)
won their last year so the car should be pretty good out of the trailer as it was for
Columbus. Every race I'm sure I'm going to learn a little more about driving these Late
Models. Seems like every time I get a little better though. Really looking forward to the
rest of the season working with Scott and his guys.

In Griffin's last JEGS/CRA race at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio back
on May 25th and after Qualifying 10th, the Prairie State teenager was fast early, but
struggled to a 21st place finish. "Columbus was definitely a learning experience. Every
time I'm out there I learn something. We had a decent qualifying effort and put myself in a pretty good position. Columbus is just one of those tracks where you have to be very patient." He continued.

"After some trouble early in the race and having to go to the back I really got the feel for tight racing and on short tracks like that guys can make their cars really wide." Offered Griffin. "So one thing I had to do was take advantage of the restarts and get as many positions as I could on those. After some more bad luck I was done for the night, but I can't thank my crew enough for always giving me a fast car." He added.

Over the weekend of May 31-June 2nd, Griffin returned to the dirt tracks in his UMP DIRTcar Modified and was rained out the first two night before competing at his home track of Quincy Raceway  in Quincy, Illinois on Sunday, June 2nd where he finished a solid third behind Rusty Griffaw and NASCAR star, Kenny Schrader.

For the remainder of the 2013 racing season, Griffin’s fleet of machines, whether it’s the JEGS/CRA car or the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS entry and even the UMP DIRTcar Modified will carry the #08 and sponsorship decals from Central Metals Recycling, as well as McPikes Pawn Shop, McGunegill Engine Performance, Powdercoat Plus, Green Smart Builders, Microtel Inns and Suites, Big Muddy Towing and Recovery and M.P.H.
