New Track, New Test For Dominique Van  Wieringen As Salem Speedway Awaits On Her 18th Birthday
Historic Southern IN High-Banks Biggest Track To Date For Soon To Be High School Grad (Special from DuroBye Motorsports)
June 19, 2013
Corunna, Michigan (June 19, 2013) – Salem Speedway, located north of Louisville,
Kentucky in Salem, Indiana is a fast 0.555 mile high-banked paved oval that is one of
the fastest race tracks in the country. An intimidating place in the mold of Winchester
Speedway, the Southern Indiana speed plant will host the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour
Presented by Chevrolet Performance for the first time on Saturday, June 22nd for the
Touchtone Energy 100 Presented by Focus Eyewear & JEGS.com.

For 17-year-old Dominique Van Wieringen and her DuroByte Motorsports Team, it's just
another race track they've never been too before as the Amherstburg, Ontario teenager
continues her quest for the 2013 Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year title. What
makes this race so special is that she'll celebrate her 18th birthday in Southern Indiana
and in addition and prior to the event, she will be right in the middle of final exams
having written her French exam on Thursday and her calculus on Friday before she
leaves for the track. On Monday she writes her last exam, chemistry.

In addition, on Thursday she officially will graduate from high school on the honor roll
and will in turn shift focus to the track and she knows that Salem isn't like anything
she's ever seen before as the bumpy high-banks have the  potential to separate the
contenders from the others heading into a three-week break in the JEGS/CRA Schedule.

"Heading to Salem this upcoming weekend will be one of the tougher races. Having
only the day of the race to practice. But I know the team will work together and we'll have a good car and I will have the track figured out before too long." Van Wieringen stated. "I have heard many things about Salem, but I'm going in with open mind and can't wait to drive a new track again." She added.

Heading into Salem, she is fourth in the freshman title chase, only 25 points out of the rookie lead while also sitting 11th  overall in the season long points chase, just nine points out of the coveted top 10. In her last race, the Berlin 100 Presented by Boyne Machine Company & JEGS.com at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan on June 14th, Van Wieringen qualified 10th quick in her first ever appearance at the tricky 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval over the 32-car field. What made the effort more rewarding was the fact that the team had to bring a different car to Berlin after a Practice crash in the race before at Dixie.

"I have to give the team a big thanks for all of the work they put this last week into putting the new car together in a short amount of time." The appreciative Canadian teenager  continued. "I had an open mind when going to Berlin, but I was excited. Practice was tough, but the team worked to get the car handling and time on the race track. I was surprised myself at our qualifying position, I really just wanted to make the show." She laughed.

Once the race started, Van Wieringen had to avoid a few mishaps not of her own doing; "The race started out good but when another car spun in front of me, I nailed the brakes to try to minimize as much damage as possible. The rest of the race was quite a handful as the car's handling was gone with the new nose aerodynamics." She explained. "The whole team was happy to finish the race and to run more laps on Berlin." She ended.

For the rest of the 2013 racing season, Van Wieringen’s Black #5 Template Bodied Ford Fusion as well as her White #95 Outlaw Super Late Model, which she hopes to climb behind the wheel of soon thanks to the break in the JEGS/CRA Schedule, and her brother Tristan Van Wieringen's Black #81 open-wheeled Modified will all carry sponsorship stickers on the side of the each machine from primary sponsor: DuroByte Incorporated as well as Nalett Trucking, R-R Salvage, Mert's Specialty Meats and M.P.H.
