Jerrod Foley Leaves Berlin Raceway With A Seventh Place Finish To Move Up To Fifth In Points
New Track Up Next For J.L.J. Motorsports As Historic Salem Speedway Awaits (Special from J.L.J. Motorsports)
June 19, 2013
Williamsburg, Kentucky (June 19, 2013) – The last time Jerrod Foley and his J.L.J.
Motorsports Team raced at the unique 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval of
Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan, the left the West Michigan speed plant with a
disappointing 15th place finish, but some good notes to bring back for the next time they
returned to the historic fairgrounds oval.

That next time was the Berlin 100 Presented by Boyne Machine Company & JEGS.com
which served as race #4 of the 2013 racing season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour
Presented by Chevrolet Performance on Friday, June 14th and the team learned their
lesson from their first time there as the second time around, Foley posted a solid seventh
place showing.

"After having a rough race at Berlin last year we came into it this year not exactly
knowing what to expect, we pulled off the trailer for practice and immediately brought the
car back in for some major adjustments, after doing so we were already practicing in the
same time range that we qualified last year," Explained the Williamsburg, Kentucky driver.
"So we knew the car, and I had already done some improvement, but we couldn't stop
there so we went the rest of the practice day making non-stop adjustments." He added.

"The car was tight and we knew that the track would tighten up as the day turned to night so we strived to get it a touch loose in the heat of the day. Doing so paid off in the long run." The 21-year-old continued. "When qualifying started it was still near the heat of the day so the car wasn't yet where we wanted it and was loose, which put us qualifying 19th out of 35 cars, just making the race without using a provisional so we counted that as a success."

Foley's #04 would start the race from the inside of the 10th row and knew he'd have his work cut out for him in order to get to the front. "We knew we had one major goal for this race, and that was to finish. So in order to complete this goal we decided to hold back a car length or two on every restart until we broke into the top ten, and at this point saving tires was also a key point to success at this track as we raced nearly the entire race half throttle to keep from spinning any tires." The Blue Grass State driver added.

The strategy paid off for Foley as he gained 12 positions to finish a solid seventh place, his second top 10 of the season and he also moved up from seventh to the top five in the season long points chase. "Couldn't have asked for better work from the crew this weekend, they worked non-stop 110% from the minute  we unloaded until after we took the checkered flag. My Spotter, My Mom did a top notch job this weekend keeping us out of trouble and was able to help keep us from getting one single scratch on the car. It was an awesome weekend as a whole." He remarked.

Next up on the 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour schedule is a new track to both Foley and the series; The fast 0.555 mile high-banked paved oval of Salem Speedway, located north of Louisville, Kentucky in Salem, Indiana on Saturday, June 22nd for the running of the Touchtone Energy 100 Presented by Focus Eyewear & JEGS.com.

"This is another track that we have never seen before. We are not quite sure what to expect other than what other people say about the track, it's fast and rough." Laughed Foley. "It happens to have the details of the kind of tracks that are my favorite to race at. So with a good run coming from Berlin we believe we will have a fine race and hopefully compete for our first win in the series." He ended.
