Corunna, Michigan (June 12, 2013) – The fast 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked
D-shaped paved oval of Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan was the site for
race #3 of the 2013 racing season of the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by
Chevrolet Performance. The Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com was a race that 17-
Year-Old Rookie, Dominique Van Wieringen and the entire DuroByte Motorsports crew
had been looking forward too.
Unfortunately things took a turn for the worse during the first Practice Session as a result
of an accident. Once the DuroByte Motorsport's crew arrived on the scene they quickly
discovered the car was far beyond any of hope of repair. After having Dominique, the
Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year Points Leader going into the event, attended
to by track medical personnel, the team got to work salvaging as many important JEGS/
CRA overall and Rookie points as possible. The team called on Robbie Johnson, a
regular Super Stocks competitor at near-by Auto City Speedway to use his #21 machine
to run the first lap of the race.
"I can't express enough of my appreciation to Robbie and his crew for letting me run the first and only lap of the Dixie event," Dominique explained. "Not only did it allow me to get a few extra points, but allowed me to get out on the track during the autograph session so I could meet the fans and hand out balloons to all the kids."
"The team and I were so disappointed because in the morning (Crew Chief) Jimmy (D. Smith) made at few important changes that cut off 3/10ths of my lap times from Thursday's practice," replied the young rookie. It didn't take long after the impact for Dominique to know her car was in trouble when she went to start her car only to find out she broke the clutch pedal off with her ankle.
Now the DuroByte Motorsports Team, armed with their secondary Howe Racing Enterprises chassis, will make the trip across the state to the historic 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval of Berlin Raceway located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan on Friday, June 14th for the Berlin 100 Presented by Boyne Machine Company & JEGS.com which headlines the Friday portion of the Inaugural Battle at Berlin 251 Weekend.
"A lot of people have told me that Berlin is a difficult and tough track to race at. These comments have only fueled my excitement of finally getting to race at Berlin. I tend to do better at the tracks that are more difficult and technical so I can hardly wait to get there," Dominique replied. "I'm so thankful that once again my team is working long hours this week swapping parts from one car to another in order to be ready in time for Thursday's practice at Berlin this week," she commented.
The weekend was not a total loss for the team as Dominique's younger brother, 15-year-old rookie, Tristan
Van Wieringen, in only his third career start, scored the Feature Win in the open-wheeled Modifieds
division at Springport Motor Speedway in Springport, Michigan on June 8th. As the crowd stood on their
feet watching the rookie charge to the front on the top groove, Tristan had to be thanking both his sister,
Dominique and father, Murray for giving him the best handling car on the track.
For the remainder of the 2013 racing season, Van Wieringen’s Black #5 Template Bodied Ford Fusion as
well as her familiar White #95 Outlaw Super Late Model, and her brother Tristan Van Wieringen's Black
#81 open-wheeled Modified will all carry sponsorship stickers on the side of the each entry from primary
sponsor: DuroByte Incorporated as well as Nalett Trucking, R-R Salvage, Mert's Specialty Meats and
M.P.H. Promotions
