Williamsburg, Kentucky (May 23, 2013) – Jerrod Foley knows that one race does not
make a season especially when it comes to competing for a Championship in the
JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. After getting caught
up in a massive wreck in the Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 Presented by JEGS.com
at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri on May 18th, Foley and his J.L.J.
Motorsports Team are in regroup mode.
"Lebanon I-44 Speedway was not only a fast track, but a very fun and challenging
track to drive on, when we unloaded from the trailer and got out first practice session,
we already knew we was going be fast for the race." Foley explained. "We got up to
eighth on practice charts on a older set of tires. After qualifying 12th and knowing what
was left in the car for a race we knew we had at least a top five car." He added.
Disaster struck on a restart on lap 24 when a multi-car pile-up completely blocked the
race track just past the start/finish line and left Foley with nowhere to go; "Despite a
slow start to the race and getting stuck behind slow traffic, we were able to get as far up as 10th before the lap 24 catastrophe took place." He continued. "A car ahead of us missed a shift and it caused a chain reaction wreck that took at least eight cars out of the race. Having nowhere to go we were hit from behind and later in the passenger door ending our night." The 21-year-old added.
The second race of the 2013 JEGS/CRA season is on Saturday, May 25th as the team will make the trip north from the Blue Grass State to Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio for the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com, the site of his best career JEGS/CRA finish as he scored a podium showing of a third in last year's version of this race and expects to contend for the win this time around.
"Despite last week's race at I-44 we are still very enthusiastic about going to Columbus this coming Saturday. We still have a lot of momentum coming from last season and a few local races that we were able to dominate in." The Williamsburg, Kentucky driver remarked. "So with that being said and having a third place finish from last year under our belt at Columbus, we are very excited to get back on the road and race for the 2013 championship." He ended.
