Salem, Indiana (May 21, 2013) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will head to Columbus Motor Speedway, located in Columbus, Ohio this Saturday for the Coughlin Cars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com. The event will be the second race of the season for the crate motor template bodied series after its big start to the 2013 season last Saturday with the Mercy Masters of the Pro’s 144 at Lebanon I-44 Speedway, were Chase Elliott came away with the victory.
Last season’s Coughlin Cars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com on the racy 1/3 mile was a very exciting event won by Michigan native Chad Finley, his first ever series win. Finley had lead early in the event but had fallen back to third place behind Anderson Bowen and Daniel Hemric. Those two then got together on lap 88 resulting in both cars going to the tail and handing the lead back to Finley. Finley was able to hold off local favorite David Carter and Jerrod Foley to get the victory.
Many of the top series regulars are entered for Saturday’s event including Finley and Foley along with Delaware, Ohio native Cody Coughlin, Josh Nelms, Wes Griffith Jr., Tom Woodin, Jordan Miller, Colin Nickolai, and Tempe, Arizona native Landon Cling in the Scott Neal Racing entry, the 2012 series Championship wining team.
A huge contention of Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Presented by Howe Racing candidates are entered including Corey Dueser, the Howe Racing Rookie of the Race Award winner at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway event. Other registered rookies entered include, Dominque Van Wieringen, Hunter Baize, Jake Griffin, Kody Evans, Mark Jacobs, Jaxon Jacobs as well as Cole Glasson and Brad Cororan, both making their series debuts.
There is also a strong group of part-time series racers from Michigan coming to support this event including Dan Leeck, Eric Lee, Jimmy Novak and David McManus. A former series competitor, now racing full-time with the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS as a rookie, Brandon Oakley, has entered. Justin Alsip, an ARCA/CRA Super Series competitor for several years, will make his JEGS Tour debut Saturday night. Also making their 2013 series debuts are Brian Royalty and Alex Rosenberry.
Robbie Pyle, a very familiar name to Columbus, Ohio race fans and a former competitor in the ASA Racing Series, is entered in a JVM Motorsports car backed by Howe Racing. Pyle is a former track Champion at Columbus and was a winner of an ARCA/CRA Super Series event at Columbus several seasons ago.
There will be an open practice eon Friday from 3 to 7pm. On Saturday rig parking will start at 12pm for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour teams with pit gates opening at 12:30pm. Practice will begin at 3pm with qualifying for the series at 6:15pm. The race program will begin at 7pm and will include the Coughlin Cars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. Also racing on Saturday night will be the Columbus Late Models, Modifeds, Sport Stocks and Compacts.
