Mercy Masters Of The Pros 144 Presented by JEGS.com Begins Road To JEGS/CRA Title for Griffith Jr.
First Start for KBR Development for Crown Point, Indiana veteran (Special from Team KBR)
May 15, 2013
Grand Rapids, Michigan (May 15, 2013) – Since January when the announcement was made that Crown Points, Indiana veteran, Wes Griffith Jr., had joined forces with KBR Development based in Grand Rapids, Michigan and together they announced their intentions on making a run at the 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Championship. What they didn't plan on was waiting so long to get the first race in.
After the scheduled 2013 JEGS/CRA opener at Springport Motor Speedway in Springport, Michigan on April 28th was rained out, the 45-year-old has been forced to wait another couple of weeks for the new door opener; the Mercy Masters of the Pros 144 Presented by JEGS.com at the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of Lebanon I-44 Speedway, located southwest of St. Louis in Lebanon, Missouri on Saturday, May 18th.
"I'm really excited to get in the car and race after testing a couple of times and logging some laps. I've been really itching to get there and get a race under our belts." The Hoosier State veteran stated. "I just want to get a race in and take advantage of the resources here at KBR. I can already see where having the veteran support of the entire KBR racing team as well as leaning on driver Brian Campbell for input will be very beneficial." He added.
This will be Griffith Jr's first official start for Team KBM after spending most of the early season thus far testing. Car Owner, Mike Bursley is just as anxious as Griffith Jr., about racing for the first time in 2013 with his new driver. ""We're v very excited to get Wes in the car and race. We've had two very successful outings practicing both at Berlin and Springport before that event was rained out. Wes has shown some speed and consistency that was needed in both of those practices sessions, the key now is to build on that." He remarked.
During the 2012 racing season, Griffith Jr., finished eighth in the final JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour points standings as he recorded one top five finish, which was a career high second place showing, ironically, at Springport, site of the 2013 JEGS/CRA Season Opener. Overall, he also accumulated four top 10 finishes. In 2011, he finished in the ninth position in the points standings and is in the top five all-time in several JEGS/CRA statistical categories.
For the 2013 racing season, Griffith Jr’s Black #33 will carry the colors of KBR Development as well as sponsorship support from Solid Steel Incorporated, Port City Racecars, and M.P.H. Promotions.
