DeWitt, Michigan (April 26, 2013) – After a ninth place finish in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS and the ARCA Midwest Tour combination race; the 7-Up 150 on Saturday, April 20th at Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio. Chad Finley will now switch modes and shift focus on the 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance.
The Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGS.com is set for Sunday, April 28th at Springport Motor Speedway, located only an hour south of the Chad Finley Racing shop in Springport, Michigan as the 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval is expecting a large turnout of JEGS/CRA entries from across the country. Finley feels he’s ready for the challenge and looks forward to finally racing a little closer to home this weekend.
“I know we’ve got a good car for Springport, it just seems like we never have any good luck there. Hopefully that changes this weekend.” The 21-year-old stated as he and his CFR Team continue final preparations for the special Sunday afternoon race. “We’ve got a good team in place here at CFR and as fast as we were in the first two shows this year with the Super Late Model, I expect us to be just as fast with the JEGS car and hopefully we leave Springport with the trophy.” The DeWitt, Michigan driver added.
The 2012 racing season for Finley in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour had its share of high notes including winning his first career JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio back on May 26th, 2012 and also sweeping both Fast Qualifier Awards during the 2012 Brickyard Speedweeks in both the ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana.
Competing primarily in JEGS/CRA and in 13 starts out of the 14 points events, Finley scored one win, the first of his career in CRA. His win is part of a total of four top fives and seven top 10 showings. Finley is still one of the all-time leaders in most statistical categories in the second year JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance as he is in the top five all-time in career top fives, career top 10 finishes, career laps led, career appearances, and career laps completed.
In Finley’s last race, the Border Wars 7-Up 150 at Toledo and after Qualifying seventh and just missing the inversion of six for the race, the DeWitt, Michigan driver started on the inside of the fourth row and stayed in the top 10 for the first half of the race. After the 15 minute break at lap 76 of the 150-lap main, Finley was fighting for ninth when he cut a right front tire down and spun. After a pit stop to replace the tire, Finley charged his way back through the field and would finish in ninth.
“We had a great car and we were just being patient waiting for the race to come to us. We just followed (Eventual Winner) Johnny (VanDoorn) there the first half. After the break and when we went green we ended up cutting down a tire in a few laps and dropped way back. I went into one and the car went way up the hill in the marbles and I spun,” He explained. “We fought back though and got back into the top 10 against a strong field of cars. He added.
