Grand Rapids, Michigan (April 25, 2013) – It’s been a busy off season for Crown Point, Indiana veteran, Wes Griffith Jr., as right after the final race of his 2012 racing season in Nashville, Tennessee when he raced in the Pro Late Models portion of the All-American 400 weekend, Griffith Jr., was already deep into working on plans for the fast approaching 2013 campaign. That time is now and plans are set.
For the 2013 racing season, Griffith Jr., has joined forces with KBR Development based in Grand Rapids, Michigan and together they will make a run at the 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Championship beginning on Sunday, April 28th at the 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Springport Motor Speedway, located north of Jackson and south of Lansing in Springport, Michigan for the running of the Cabin Fever 100 Presented by JEGS.com.
“I’m looking forward to the entire race season. I’m very confident in myself and my abilities and with the resources now available from KBR and especially from Brian (Campbell) we’re going to strong right out of the gate.” The 45-year-old Chicagoland veteran stated. “I honestly feel that with our new Port City Racecar and a great shock package from Butch (VanDoorn) I really believe that all the right pieces are in place.” He added.
“We’re looking to get that first win. That’s the #1 goal for us,” Griffith Jr., continued recently. “This is the first time in my career where I feel like I have a legitimate chance at not only racing for wins, but to compete for a championship. We’re bringing a brand new Port City Racecars chassis to Springport and I’ll have the same KBR team members that go with Brian (Campbell) when he competes as well.
During the 2012 racing season, Griffith Jr., finished eighth in the final JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour points standings as he recorded one top five finish, which was a career high second place showing, ironically, at Springport, site of the 2013 JEGS/CRA Season Opener. Overall, he also accumulated four top 10 finishes. In 2011, he finished in the ninth position in the points standings and is in the top five all-time in several JEGS/CRA statistical categories.
“Adding Wes to our program is a great bonus,” Team KBR President, Mike Bursley added back in January. "I feel like we can really help him grow as a driver, chase some race wins this season and perhaps help him make the transition over to the Super Late Models. We are not done here, we are still looking for others to hop aboard our team and keep building this." He added.
For the 2013 racing season, Griffith Jr’s Black #33 will carry the colors of KBR Development as well as sponsorship support from Solid Steel Incorporated, Port City Racecars, and M.P.H. Promotions.
