Season Opener for JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Changes After Illiana Event Dropped
Springport Motor Speedway Will Now Host Series Season Opener on April 28
February 17, 2013
Champion Racing Association (CRA) officials announced today that the tentative date at Illiana Motor Speedway to open the season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour presented by Chevrolet Performance has now been dropped from the schedule. As a result the new season opener will now be the Sunday, April 28 event at Springport Motor Speedway.
Series officials, working with the event sponsor, were unable to finalize terms with the Northwest Indiana track for the previously announced tentative season opener.
With Illiana’s removal from the schedule, Springport Motor Speedway will now host the much anticipated opener for the series’ third season. The Sunday afternoon race will give race fans throughout the Midwest the opportunity to enjoy a special afternoon event in April. Series veterans and a new crop of rookies will battle some of the best local drivers in Michigan.
Series Director Glenn Luckett commented, “We are disappointed that we will not be at Illiana for the opener as previously announced, but are really happy for the Parish’s and the rest of their team at Springport to get to host this very special event. There is usually so much energy and excitement surrounding season openers, and that’s a great group of people up there to benefit from this change.”
The 2013 series schedule won’t be short an event for long, as JEGS series officials are expected to announce an addition to the schedule in the coming days that will be the most significant event in the young series’ history. The new event will be the first event longer than the series standard 100 lap event, and will likely have the richest winner’s paycheck for any pro-late model event in the country.
