The 2013 racing season is here and for Jerrod Foley and the JLJ Motorsports Team, it couldn't come soon enough. Fresh off of the 2012 Champion Racing Association (CRA) Award Banquet, the Williamsburg, Kentucky driver is ready to go and SpeedFest 2013 at Watermelon Capital Speedway is the first stop on the 2013 calendar.
Foley will begin the season the same way the 2012 campaign started and ended, in Cordele, Georgia for the
JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance non-points race in the Peach State. Back in October,
Foley rebounded from being sent to the back of the pack early in the 100-lap main to post a solid third place showing
in the event won by 2012 JEGS/CRA Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year, Anderson Bowen with Scotty Ellis
coming home in second.
"After an off season that seemed like eternity, I don't think I, and the rest of our team could be much happier to get
back on the road with the JEGS/CRA crew." The recently turned 21-year-old (On January 14th) stated. "Our journey
begins this weekend with Speedfest at Watermelon Capital. In the off season we managed to get a lot of work done to
our cars and hope to be one of the top competitors this season in our 04 Chevy." He added.
"For Speedfest we are being forced to bring our secondary car, and don't know what to expect." Foley remarked. "We ran a very strong third place last time we ran, so we are looking for at least a top five finish, but coming home in one piece is always a plus." He stated.
During the 2012 racing season within JEGS/CRA including both non-points races at Watermelon Capital on January 29th and more recently on October 27th, Foley recorded three top five finishes with a season high of a third place finish twice with the first on May 26th at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio and the second one in the last race at Watermelon Capital. He also collected nine top 10 finishes and 12 top 15s.
In addition, he also accumulated an impressive Eight Feature Wins spread out between his two local tracks of Corbin Speedway in Corbin, Kentucky as well as Rockcastle Speedway in Mount Vernon, Kentucky.
As for 2013, Foley and the crew plan to follow the same schedule as 2012 highlighted by another run at the JEGS/CRA Championship. "We plan on running the whole JEGS/CRA schedule this season along with some more local tracks on our off weekends." He continued. "Last season we was all but one race to being undefeated at our 'more local' race tracks and hope to do the same this year.
"I have to give so much credit to my Dad (Car Owner & Crew Chief, Jim Foley) while I have been in school and not able to work on the cars, he has been in the race shop every day since the last race getting the cars ready for this 2013 season." He appreciatively ended.
For the upcoming 2013 campaign, Foley’s Black #04 Port City Racecars Chevrolet Impala will carry sponsorship decals from Quality Care Auto as well as Manton Financial Services, Imprint Warehouse Screen Printing, DAL Fishing Jigs, Advance Auto Parts, Baker Performance Parts, M.P.H. Promotions, Ace in the Hole Motorsports, and JLJ Motorsports,
