Ali Kern & Lorz Motorsports Heading To Madison International Speedway For Border Wars II
Rookie Points Leader in a Dogfight for Freshman Title (Special from Lorz Motorsports)
August 8, 2013
Midlothian, Illinois (August 8, 2013) – Ali Kern and the Lorz Motorsports Team knew
they'd be in a thrilling battle for the 2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series Rookie of the Year title
all season long. They expected it to be a three-way dogfight for the freshman title with
fellow rookies, Anderson Bowen and Brandon Oakley. When Bowen was sidelined with
an off-track injury, it became a two-driver race for the coveted crown between Kern and
Oakley as Kern vies to become the first woman driver in CRA's 17-year history to Win
the Rookie of the Year title.

The Tri-State Collector Car Appraising 125 Presented by T.A.A.G. Incorporated was at
Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan on August 3rd. This
event was originally scheduled for May 11th but the race was rained out and reset for
'Duck Dynasty Night' at the track at the track as television stars from the hit series on the
A&E Channel will be in town signing autographs and serving as Grand Marshals for the
race.

After starting the race from the inside of the ninth row, electrical problems plagued the
team throughout the event. But Kern persevered and did manage to finish the race though
down  on power. "Wow, all I can say is we really need to get hit by the lucky stick,  Our luck has got to turn around this weekend so we can get back on track." Offered the 20-year-old who would be shown 20th in the results. "Unfortunately, by the time we got the car fired back up we just sputtered around the track to complete the race and we were multiple laps down." She added.

"Last week at Berlin was a tough one on Ali and team." Added Lorz Motorsports Car Owner, Mike Lorz. "I think she would have had a good finish as she was holding her own, then she started to back up in the field, then finally the motor started to miss, not sure what it was. After we got the car back home, we found  that the Alternator went bad and our battery could not keep up. we just need to keep our heads up and move forward just concentrate on racing and finishing up front." He added.

The next race on the 2013 schedule is a big one for the team as it's the second combination race pitting the ARCA/CRA Super Series against the teams from the ARCA Midwest Tour in Border Wars 150 Part II at the fast 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Madison International Speedway, located south of Madison in Oregon, Wisconsin. While it'll be Kern's first trip to the Cheese State, Lorz Motorsports has been to the state's capital city many times in the past. "We are ready to make a return trip to Madison. Our team has had some good runs through the years there in the old ASA days. So we look forward to going back." Lorz added.

"I'm excited about running the Border Wars 150. I've never ran there before and the competition again will be off the charts as always in this series." Kern continued. :Our series is definitely at a disadvantage at this track, but I'm confident Lorz Motorsports will have the car ready to race as they've competed there before. We're flying in to Madison on Friday and hoping to get a productive day of practice in on Saturday." The Fremont, Ohio driver added.

"We're leading the rookie points and being fourth overall in the standings is a huge accomplishment. This is a really tough series to run with so much talent running these races week after week. I learn a lot each race watching the veterans and track champions and the lines they run." The 2011 Champion in the old TBRA Series continued. "Every race is a learning experience for me and as Mike (Lorz)  tells me all the time; 'You need to run as many laps as possible and finish races'. I'm really thankful to have such a great crew with a lot of experience and the support of my parents who make all of this possible." She ended.

Overall in the ARCA/CRA Super Series season, Kern is fourth in the season long points chase with two top 10 finishes including a season high of seventh at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana back on June 29th. She leads the Rookie of the Year standings by just 16 points over Brandon Oakley.
