Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (August 5, 2013) – This Sunday, August 11th at Madison
International Speedway the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment
and Lester Buildings welcomes the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS for the
Border Wars 150 Part 2 as the two series come together for the second time this
season.
While the ARCA/CRA Super Series concentrates on tracks in Ohio, Michigan and
Indiana, the ARCA Midwest Tour focuses on tracks in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois,
and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The first of the two events was held on April 20th in Toledo, OH and won by ARCA/CRA
Super Series driver Johnny Van Doorn. The first round of the Border Wars was a true
battle between equally balanced drivers with a fight to the finish between Van Doorn and
ARCA Midwest Tour DOC 360 Touring Star, Chris Wimmer. However this time it will be
on ARCA Midwest Tour turf.
Drivers including Brandon Hermiller, Brian Campbell, and Travis Braden will head to
Wisconsin to represent the ARCA/CRA Super Series while ARCA Midwest Tour drivers
like i-gogs Touring Star Jonathan Eilen, DOC 360 Touring Star Nathan Haseleu and
Spiked Island Touring Star, Jacob Goede will be ready to stand their ground. Each driver
is not only looking to bring their series the win but to take home a $5000 paycheck.
Another driver hoping to claim the victory is one who has had equal success in both series. While he will be listed as an ARCA/CRA Super Series driver based on his hometown, Ross Kenseth could enter on either side of the line. Anyone familiar with Kenseth knows that he is no stranger to the track or either series.
He is the recent winner of the ARCA/CRA Super Series “Night of the Stars” at Lucas Oil Raceway. He is the 2010 ARCA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year and he won the 2011 Joe Shear Classic at MIS. He always looks forward to coming back to MIS but especially for an event like this.
Ross is not so much worried about the series he represents but putting on a good show and taking home that $5000.
“I’ve ran with both series many times and bringing them both together for an event like this will be a lot of fun to compete in. The talent level will be second to none and should be a really good show for the fans,” said Kenseth.
If the race is anything like the Joe Shear Classic at MIS earlier this year, the fans are sure to see a great show. Johnny Sauter, i-gogs Touring Star Dan Fredrickson, eventual winner, Travis Sauter and Jacob Goede put on one of the best races some say they had ever seen. Bringing the ARCA/CRA Super Series drivers into the mix will only make it that much more exciting.
Qualifying will begin at 2:15pm with the drop of the green at 4:00pm.
The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is among the leading auto racing sanctioning bodies in the country.
