Remaining Baer Field Speedway Events Removed From 2013 CRA Schedules
Late Model Sportsman and Street Stocks events Re-scheduled to Anderson, Supers to Be Announced

Salem, Indiana (August 22, 2013) – Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS (CRA) officials announced today that the Baer Field Speedway events that were scheduled for Sunday, September 15th have been removed from the 2013 CRA schedule. Issues that surfaced following the Speedway’s recent decision to move all events from the ½ mile outside track, to the inside smaller track, led to the parties separation for the remainder of 2013.

“It is unfortunate,” noted CRA Director of Operations Greg Wood.  “We’ve been there for a couple of events this year and enjoyed ourselves and the work Jon Raney and his staff has been doing.  Following our last visit there in July, we were informed they were changing all of the CRA September events to the small track, instead of the previously announced ½ mile.  Our concerns were noted at the time with doing that, and apparently racers had voiced their concern to Jon as well.  Jon had no desire to move any of the events back to the ½ mile, and didn’t feel comfortable with the feedback he was getting from different racers, so they pulled the plug on the event.  They later used language that there were sanction agreement issues.”

According to CRA managing partner, R. J. Scott, the main sticking point in the sanctioning agreement dispute was the ownership of media rights.  “We’ve been doing this for 17 years, and used basically the same sanctioning agreement during that time…the same sanction agreement that award winning, top-flight promoters have signed and operating successfully under for years.  It seems like the sanctioning agreement was just made to be the issue in this case.  Regardless, we won’t be racing there in September as previously scheduled.  We certainly don’t want to burn any bridges and we wish Jon and his staff the best of luck on the rest of their season.”

With the decision to cancel the events at Baer Field Speedway, Anderson Speedway has now added the Top Speed Fabrication CRA Late Model Sportsman and the Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks to their Saturday, September 14th Race Program. Discussions are currently being held for a replacement venue for the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS event.  An announcement about the outcome of those discussions should be coming soon.
