Wheeling, West Virginia (August 15, 2013) – It's a good thing that, for the most part,
everyone who hauled to Border Wars 150 Part II on August 11th at Madison International
Speedway in Oregon, Wisconsin, the second of two combination races pitting the ARCA/
CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS against the teams from the ARCA Midwest Tour
Presented by SCAG Power Equipment & Lester Builders received a minimum of 80
points for making the haul to the Cheese State. Otherwise, Travis Braden may have been
in a little bit of trouble.
The day before on August 10th during the Track sponsored Open Practice, the 19-year-
old who made the long haul from Wheeling, West Virginia only made three laps in
Practice before breaking a crank inside the motor of his #01 West Virginia University /
Chevrolet. With no back up motor, or room for a spare car in their enclosed trailer, Braden
and his Travis Braden Motorsports Team were forced to load up and make the long 10-
hour haul back home not able to race.
The bright spot for the Mountaineer State driver is that everything is fixed and good to go
for the team and just in time for the pivotal Michigan Doubleheader Weekend this Friday-
Saturday, August 16-17th at Auto City Speedway in Clio, Michigan for the Mid-Michigan
Toyota Dealers / Draper 125 and then 90 minutes south to Flat Rock Speedway in Flat
Rock, Michigan for the 7-Up 125.
"Well there's not much to say about Madison of course other than we hope that's our bad luck for the season." Braden remarked. "Going to Auto City and I'm glad there's open practice because I've never been there before. I like the challenge though of having to learn something new." He added.
The following night at Flat Rock is the race he's really looking forward to as he holds down the Track Record from last years' event; "I'm really confident we will have a great showing. We broke the track record last year and we're bringing back the same car, which we feel is even better than it was then. Altogether it should be a good, fun weekend and if we can get out of here with two clean racecars and a win or two that would be awesome right before my school year begins and I have much less time to focus on racing." He ended.
Braden will head into the Michigan Doubleheader Weekend as the Current Points Leader in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS with a somewhat comfortable 98-point advantage over veteran Kenny Tweedy and 103 markers over another CRA veteran, Rick Turner. He has one Win which came in the Winchester 100 at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana back on June 29th to go with three top fives and five top 10 finishes.
He also has 163 laps led in ARCA/CRA competition, second only behind three-time and reigning ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion, Johnny VanDoorn. In addition, Braden also has a victory in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance back on June 14th at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan during the Berlin 100 Presented by Boyne Machine Company & JEGS.com.
For the remainder of the 2013 racing season, Braden’s #01 Chevrolet Impala, proudly sporting the West Virginia University colors will also carry additional sponsorship decals from; Braden’s A-1 Towing & Collision as well as RememberTheMiners.org, Stoney Hollow Tire, Elms Grove Eagles #1891, A.D.
