Wheeling, West Virginia (July 31, 2013) – If there's one thing about being the points
leader in the chase for the 2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS
Championship, it's that all eyes are focused on you. In the case of 19-year-old Travis
Braden, those on-lookers have stood up and have taken notice of the Wheeling, West
Virginia driver and it's not only because of his #01 machine sporting the colors of West
Virginia University.
The immaculate 0.686 mile progressively banked paved oval of Lucas Oil Raceway,
located west of Indianapolis in Clermont, Indiana was the site for the Night of the Stars
100 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series on July 26th. The battle for the series title is coming
down to a three-horse race between Braden, 1997 Series Champion from the Inaugural
season, Kenny Tweedy and veteran Rick Turner.
After Indy, Braden now enjoys a comfortable 55-point advantage over Tweedy who has a
15-point cushion on Turner after Braden finished 10th in the Circle City while Tweedy
struggled to a 27th place finish and Turner wasn't too far back of Braden as he was
scored 13th to move into third in the season long points chase, closing the gap on
Tweedy in the process.
"We felt we had a shot at the win on the final restart at LOR and it was taken from us so we are pretty eager now." The Mountaineer State driver stated. " I'm happy with the power we have shown so far this year, minus Toledo where we had a number of issues and had to struggle with what we had." He added.
The third race in three weekends for the ARCA/CRA Super Series is the rescheduled Tri-State Collector Car Appraising 125 Presented by T.A.A.G. Incorporated at Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan on Saturday, August 3rd. A track where Braden has already visited victory lane this season in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance portion of the Inaugural Battle at Berlin 251 Weekend.
" I'm really pumped about the next race at Berlin. We had a blazingly fast car for the 251 weekend, dominant in the crate race and a top three car in the 251 if it weren't for many 'out of the ordinary' mishaps." He continued. "We're bringing the same car back and hopefully with same results. We had a bad finish in the 251, but not because of lack of speed. It's another potentially great points day, especially if we can qualify great. We are looking for a 'max points day' and more importantly a win." He ended.
