Beavercreek, Ohio (July 25, 2013) – All Brandon Oakley asks for is a little break in the
ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS season. He knows he's fast, he has the
legendary Gary St. Amant in his corner as his Crew Chief, the rest of his hard-working
team is stout from top to bottom, now all the 19-year-old wants is just a little luck to go
his way and he knows that'll prove that his Brandon Oakley Racing Team are solid
contenders in the series.
The fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of Anderson Speedway in Anderson,
Indiana was the last race for Oakley and crew on July 20th for the second leg of the
$100,000 JEGS Triple Crown Series; the Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300. After Qualifying
18th, the Beavercreek, Ohio driver would start the race from the outside of the ninth row.
Adding to the already prestigious race was the 2013 ARCA/CRA Rookie of the Year title
chase which Oakley is right in the middle of. Unfortunately for ROTY points leader going
into the weekend, 15-year-old Anderson Bowen, he is out four to six weeks due to an off-
track injury leaving the door wide open for both Oakley and fellow Freshman, Ali Kern. So
Oakley was hoping to gain some ground on both during the 300-lap main.
Déjà vu struck the white #51 in Central Indiana though as contact with another car on lap 40 left his machine up against the turns one and two wall. The same place he hit in the May 4th race at Anderson. What made things worse was as he came off the wall, Bubba Pollard had nowhere to go and tagged Oakley's machine ending his night.
"Unfortunately, we got taken out at early at Anderson for no reason," Oakley matter of factly stated after the race. "But we're ready for Lucas Oil Raceway and hope to get a race in with a solid finish. Hopefully we can catch a little luck here too." He added.
The Night of the Stars 100 is next on the schedule on Friday, July 26th at the fast 0.686 mile progressively banked paved oval of Lucas Oil Raceway, located west of Indianapolis in Clermont, Indiana as the race is not only the second of three consecutive ARCA/CRA Super Series races in three weekends, it's also part of the city's prestigious Brickyard Speedweeks which ends with the famed Brickyard 400 on Sunday, July 28th at near-by Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
As the 2013 season continues, Oakley is second in the Rookie of the Year title chase, 36 points behind Kern. Overall in the ARCA/CRA Super Series in 2013 and despite the crash at Anderson, Oakley climbed up into the coveted top five overall in the season long points chase and is 32 markers behind fourth place Rick Turner. His season high finish remains an 11th in the non-points SpeedFest 2013 back on January 27th at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia.
