Midlothian, Illinois (July 25, 2013) – Now sitting third Overall in the ARCA/CRA Super
Series Powered by JEGS Points Standings and leading the 2013 Rookie of the Year title
chase, Ali Kern has a lot to smile about these days as the 2013 racing season continues
on. The next event on the schedule for her and the Lorz Motorsports Team is set for
Friday, July 26th at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana for the Night of the Stars 100.
In her last race, the Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300 at the fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-
banked paved oval of Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana on July 20thm which also
served as the second leg of the $100,000 JEGS Triple Crown Series., Kern qualified 15th
quick and would start the prestigious race from the inside of the eighth row. After running
as high as 12th, she was caught up in a wreck just past the lap 150 break and a broken
Radiator sidelined her for the rest of the race.
"We were pretty disappointed that we only got to run the first half of the Redbud 300. We
were running P12 at the halfway break and were excited about the last 150 laps.
Unfortunately, I got caught up in a wreck in front of me and destroyed the radiator in my
Port City crate motor car." She explained. "My crew tried really hard to get me back out
there, but there was just too much damage to the radiator." She added.
Now all focus shifts to the immaculate 0.686 mile progressively banked paved oval located
west of Indianapolis as the Night of the Stars 100 is part of the city's Brickyard Speedweeks. "I'll be running the Super Late Model again at LOR and I'm looking forward to competing against some of the big names that are entered. As always, the Lorz Motorsports crew will be ready to go with a fast car for me to wheel." The 20-year-old added.
"Lorz Motorsports is ready for Indy. The car is ready to go and so is the team hoping we have better luck this year at Indy then we did last year." Car Owner, Mike Lorz added. "Anytime you go to big track it draws a lot of good quality cars and drivers and we are ready for the task. Ali has done a great job for us this year. We all just have to stay focused on one thing and that is to finish." He ended.
Overall in the ARCA/CRA Super Series season, Kern is now an impressive third in the season long points chase with two top 10 finishes including a season high of seventh at Winchester. Her other top 10 is a 10th in the series' last race at Anderson back on May 4th. She leads the Rookie of the Year standings by 36 markers over fellow freshman, Brandon Oakley.
