Williamsburg, Kentucky (July 25, 2013) – As busy as Jerrod Foley and his J.L.J.
Motorsports Team have been during the 2013 racing season, things are about to pick up
considerably for the 21-year-old this Friday, July 26th at the immaculate Lucas Oil
Raceway in Clermont, Indiana, just west of Indianapolis as the famed facility will host
both the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour
Presented by Chevrolet Performance in the running of the Night of the Stars Twin 100s.
In addition to running in the JEGS/CRA portion of the twin 100s, the Williamsburg,
Kentucky driver will also be debuting a new Super Late Model to compete in as well.
"We are really looking forward to racing at Lucas Oil Raceway with our first time running
ARCA/CRA with a Super Late Model, but also working to narrow the gap between us and
third in points for the JEGS/CRA race as well." He stated. "We did our own version of
'Double-Duty' last weekend with the same car and can't wait to do it again this Friday
except this time with a primary car and an actual Super Late Model."
The race at LOR wasn't his first ARCA/CRA race or even his first event with the premier
series within Champion Racing Association (CRA) Powered by JEGS. However it will be
the first time that Foley will compete in the series with a Super Late Model. His first
ARCA/CRA race was SpeedFest 2011 with his Crate Engined machine at the now closed
Lanier International Raceway in Georgia and most recently last Saturday, July 20th in the
Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana.
"After finishing the JEGS/CRA race the night before with a clean car we decided to stay for the Redbud 300 which turned out to be an awesome experience." Foley explained. "We started the race on a used old set of tires and finished the 300 lap race on the exact same set. To top it all we started in the 24th position and finished a solid 13th with a pro car against all supers and we were the top finishing JEGS/CRA car to compete in the race." He smiled.
In the Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour at Anderson on July 19th, Foley Qualified 16th and would start the race from the outside of the eighth row. "Going into Anderson and having been there once, we knew what to expect and keeping the car clean would earn a solid finish." He stated. "We had to come to this race with our back up car so our primary would be ready for LOR. We had a very solid car in practice not changing anything before qualifying or the race and not having Mach Qualifying Run, we qualified not knowing exactly how the car would handle."
In the race, Foley persevered and came away with a 12th place showing and actually moved up to fourth in the season long points chase. "The race on Friday seemed like a 500-lap race with the high temperatures we endured, but got the job done and moved up in points." He continued. "Although we were in our back up car and wasn't the best we could be for the race, that's quite an accomplishment thanks to the crew, crew chief, and wonderful spotting by my mom / spotter. All in all we had a action packed weekend that was as fun as it gets without winning ." He ended.
Foley is now sitting fourth in the season long points standings for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour just 33 markers out of third place and fourth place and 52 points back of the points lead. In six JEGS/CRA points races so far, Foley has accumulated three top 10 finishes with a season high of sixth coming at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio back on May 25th in the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com.
For the remainder of the 2013 racing season, Foley’s Black and Red JEGS/CRA car and the new Yellow ARCA/CRA #04 J.L.J. Motorsports / Port City Racecars Chevrolet Impalas will both carry sponsorship decals from Quality Care Auto as well as Manton Financial Services, Imprint Warehouse Screen Printing, DAL Fishing Jigs, Advance Auto Parts, Baker Performance Parts, Ace in the Hole Motorsports and M.P.H. Promotions.
