Tom Woodin Puts Himself In Position To Contend  For 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship
Third in Points Heading into Night of the Stars 100 at Lucas Oil Raceway (Special from Woodin Motorsports)
July 24, 2013
Battle Creek, Michigan (July 24, 2013) – To make the jump in the motorsports industry
from the weekly ranks to a traveling series is a big step for any driver. For one that makes
the leap from running Street Stocks and Four-Cylinders to the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour
Presented by Chevrolet Performance is a tall order for even the most touted drivers. For
Tom Woodin, the transition has been one of ups and downs, but in 2013 it's definitely
been on the upswing.

So far in 2013, the new JEGS/CRA All-Time Leader in Career Starts in the series, is
sitting an impressive third place in the season long points chase only 19 markers back of
points leader, Cody Coughlin and just 15 points behind Dan Leeck for second. Woodin
knows now that he's a legitimate title contender especially after leading the first 91 laps
of the Touchtone Energy 100 Presented by Focus Eyewear & JEGS.com at Salem
Speedway in Salem, Indiana back on June 22nd before bringing home a career high
second place finish.

“ So far the year has been going great. The first two races we missed some things on the
car that really were costing us.  But we’ve rebounded nicely with three top five's in our last
four race," Woodin reflected as he looked back on his 2013 racing season to date. "We're
in the championship hunt, and that was the goal.  Now we just have to take care of business the rest of the way and hopefully get that first win." He added.

Woodin and his Woodin Motorsports Team are busy preparing for the halfway point of the 2013 JEGS/CRA season with the running of the Night of the Stars 100 on Friday, July 26th at the immaculate Lucas Oil Raceway, located West of Indianapolis in Clermont, Indiana. The night is part of the city's Brickyard Speedweeks which ties into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the big track, Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 28th. So the stakes are high for Woodin and the entire crew.

In Woodin's last race, the Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com on July 19th at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana, he would Qualify eighth which placed him on the outside of the fourth row for the start of the race. "We knew going into qualifying that we had a good car, and I was hoping I could put down a good qualifying lap.  Unfortunately I kind of messed up the end of the first lap and therefore the second lap was kind of a throw away." He explained.

“Once the race started I knew we were in for a good race.  The car was handling awesome and we started moving forward instantly. " Continued the 24-year-old. "As the race went on and we ended up having that red flag we got pretty tight.  Luckily we held on for a top five and completed the top goal on our agenda, which was to make sure we are finishing better than the two guys (Cody Coughlin & Dan Leeck) in front of us in points.”

Woodin's racing career began in Go-Karts in 2000 racing mainly at Stateline Speedway, a 1/8th mile clay oval in Ohio.  In two years in go-karts he amassed 8  feature wins, and 15 heat wins.  Finally it was time to move up to big cars. After spending time in Street Stocks and Four-Cylinders, Woodin made the bold move up to the old Varney Late Model Series spending the 2009 and 2010 season there before moving into the newly formed JEGS/CRA All-Stars tour during the series' first season of 2011.

In that first season in 2011,  he would finish 10th in points with two top 10 finishes. The 2012 racing season saw Woodin establish himself as a contender with a solid seventh place finish in the final points standings with two top five finishes including a career high, at the time, third place effort, his first podium showing, at Shady Bowl Speedway in DeGraff, Ohio. He ended the year with six top 10s as well.

For the rest of the 2013 racing season, Woodin's white #72 with a Ford Fusion body has sponsorship decals on the side of his machine from Rombaugh's Auto Sales as well as Oliver's Collision Centers, Perkins Tire, Level Park Hardware, AMSOil Lubricants, D&L Distributing,  Airgas of Michigan, Port city Racecars, and Hawk Performance Brakes.
