Long-Time CRA Supporters tragically killed in highway accident in Fort Wayne, Indiana
July 17, 2013
Salem, Indiana (July 12, 2013) – Championship Racing Association (CRA) Powered by JEGS management and staff sincerely sent our condolences to the families of long-time CRA Car Owner Blaine Miller and his grandson, the last ever CRA Front Wheel Drive Compacts Series Champion from 2011, Jeff Shelmadine.
As the founder and an employee with Blaine Miller Road Service, the two were assisting a broken-down semi on I-69, when the truck they were working on was hit by another semi.
Miller was a well-established car owner for drivers such as Dave Bice, Steve Christman, Bobby Blount, Brian Ross, “Chargin’ Charlie” Glotzbach and many others. In 2012, his cars had recorded eight Street Stock Feature wins at three different tracks including the Stealth Trailers CRA Street Stocks Series Powered by JEGS Season Opener at Lucas Oil Raceway on April 14th with veteran Bice behind the wheel.
Jeff Shelmadine was amongst the all-time statistical leaders in the old CRA Front Wheel Drive Compact Tour where he was the last series Champion in 2011. After moving up to the CRA Street Stocks Series in 2012, This season, Shelmadine made limited appearances in the CRA Street Stocks Series recording a fourth place finish at Lucas Oil Raceway in a team car to Bice, who won. He also had won four straight Street Stock Features at the Angola Motorsports Speedway and was runner-up in the Street Stock Feature at Baer Field Speedway in what was his last race on July 6th.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Miller and Sheldamine Families.
CRA will announce details for a memorial and services as soon as they become available.
