Midlothian, IL (June 27, 2013) – Ali Kern knows how to win and be competitive in a Late
Model. She proved that when she won the Series Championship in the now defunct
TBRA Series that raced in her home state of Ohio as well as in Pennsylvania during the
2011 racing season. While that success hasn't quite carried over to the Champion
Racing Association Powered by JEGS just yet, Kern and her Lorz Motorsports Team
know they're close.
The Winchester 100, part of the All ARCA Triple Header Weekend at the famed 1/2
(0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana on
Saturday, June 29th is a golden opportunity for the 20-year-old to move forward in the
chase for the 2013 Rookie of the Year title in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by
JEGS. While a place like Winchester can intimidate some drivers, she relishes the
thought of racing on the legendary high-banks.
"We had a great day of testing on Tuesday and we all feel really comfortable with the car.
I'm just ready to get back behind the wheel. With all the canceled races, we just haven't
had enough track time." Explained the Fremont, Ohio driver. " Unfortunately at Berlin a couple of weeks ago, we were denied an opportunity to run the Battle at Berlin 251 because I was wrecked in the last chance race. It just wasn't necessary." She added.
Kern's last race was the Inaugural Battle at Berlin 251 at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan on June 15th and in the Last Chance Race, contact between her and another car damaged the #28 machine enough to where they were done for the night and unable to start the main. "The good thing is we're still tied with Anderson Bowen for Rookie of the Year and we're moving up in the points standings. We're good to go for this Saturday's Winchester 100." She ended.
After three races in ARCA/CRA, Kern and Anderson Bowen are tied on top of the Rookie Points Standings with Brandon Oakley only eight markers back. Car Owner, Mike Lorz is very optimistic about his drivers chances. " We look forward to Winchester this weekend and getting back to normal points racing. We tested there with her and she did very well." The veteran Car Owner stated.
"I think we have a solid car for Saturday. we told her to race the track because it is tougher than your competition. That track will bite you at any time." He added when talking about the famed high-banks in Eastern Indiana. "She has done a heck of a job this year so we need to keep rolling and finish races that's the big key of winning and winning a championship." He ended.
