Beavercreek, Ohio (June 12, 2013) – Recent High School graduate, Brandon Oakley has
been busy preparing for the biggest weekend of racing in his young career as the 18-year-
old will be making the trip north to Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids in
Marne, Michigan for the Battle at Berlin Weekend. On Friday, June 14th, he'll be racing
with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance in the Berlin 100
Presented by Boyne Machine Company & JEGS.com.
Then on Saturday, June 15th, he'll switch gears and participate in the biggest race of his
career to date; the Inaugural Battle at Berlin 251, the third race of the 2013 racing season
for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS with a bonus $5,000 up for grabs to
the driver who can win both the JEGS/CRA race on Friday and again on Saturday in the
ARCA/CRA headliner.
"We're going to run both races mainly so I can get some laps around that place. We've
never been there before, so we feel that by running the JEGS/CRA race on Friday, that
will really help us for Saturday's race." The Beavercreek, Ohio driver stated. "Plus (Crew
Chief) Gary (St. Amant) has been there a bunch of times and has turned thousands of laps there. So hopefully I can use his knowledge of the place as well." He added.
In a loaded rookie class within the 2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS season, Oakley is right in the thick of the freshman points battle with co-Rookie points leaders, 19-year-old Ali Kern and 15-year-old Anderson Bowen. Oakley is just eight markers out of that title chase heading into the third race of the year for the Salem, Indiana based series.
The Inaugural Battle at Berlin 251 also serves as the first jewel in the $100,000 JEGS Triple Crown Series with a potential $100,000 up for grabs to the driver who can win all three legs of the series. After the 251, the Triple Crown continues with the continues with the Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana on July 20th and concludes with the 42nd running of the Winchester 400 on October 13th.
If a driver can win all three races, they will get a whopping $100,000 bonus. If someone can win two of the three Triple Crown events that driver will receive a $10,000 bonus. If no driver wins two of the Triple Crown events, the driver who accumulates the most points during those three events will receive a $5,000 bonus and the title of Champion of the JEGS/CRA $100,00 Super Late Model Triple Crown.
In Oakley's last ARCA/CRA race back on May 4th in the Sell It Again Sam 125 Presented by Great Deals Magazine at the fast ¼ (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana, Oakley qualified 13th and quickly worked his way into the top 10 and was riding when on lap 75, he suddenly veered straight into the turn one wall thus ending his night earlier than planned.
In his last, and only JEGS/CRA race of 2013 at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend in the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com, in 14 career JEGS/CRA appearances, Oakley's best finish was a 12th place which he accomplished twice. What happened in Columbus, Ohio proved to Oakley and his entire crew that all the bad luck was behind them and now they can reshift focus on the rest of the 2013 ARCA/CRA Season after an impressive second place finish in the 100-lap main.
