Anderson Speedway Next On The 2013 Calendar For 19-Year-Old Travis Braden
2012 Rookie of the Year looks to rebound from Toledo event (Special from Travis Braden Motorsports)
May 3, 2013
Wheeling, West Virginia (May 3, 2013) – After a rough start to his sophomore season of competing in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, Travis Braden is hoping to rebound in race #2. As for the 2013 season opener; the Border Wars 7-Up 150 at the fast ½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio on April 20th he left the Buckeye State oval with a disappointing 27th place finish and hopes to rebound quickly from that.

“Toledo did not go well for us. With the competition that was there, we were hoping to start the year out strong, but things just didn't fall into place. “The 19-year-old stated as he reflected on the first ARCA/CRA race of the season. “We worked hard and had a decent car on long runs but couldn't find enough Q-trim speed which landed us 21st out of 43 in qualifying.” Fortunately for Braden, he was able to get into the main event based on the 2012 ARCA/CRA Owners points provisional and would start the race from the inside of the 11th row.

“When the race started I knew I was going to have a better chance if I could maintain positions and wait for good opportunities to pass when guys wore their stuff out.” The Wheeling, West Virginia driver continued. “It was very difficult for me to pass one-on-one because of a very loose condition on corner exit.  The laps rolled on and I had maintained a decent position until around lap 85 when some guys in front of me got tangled up off turn four and I could not slow down enough to keep from tearing up the nose.  I tried to continue but we eventually discovered there was a hole in the radiator and our day was done.” He stated.

Now Braden and his Travis Braden Racing Team has re-shifted focus on the second race of the season at the fast ¼ (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana on Saturday, May 4th for the rescheduled Sell It Again Sam 125 Presented by Great Deals Magazine which was postponed back on April 13th due to unseasonably cold temperatures.

“I've been able to get Toledo pretty far out of my mind and look ahead to Anderson.” Braden added. “My focus is on finding that qualifying speed and getting a good starting spot because we all know how difficult it is to pass with these big cars on such a small racetrack.  I think having run two races there before will benefit me tremendously in the race because I have seen how it unfolds.  That's really all I am focused on is simply being as aggressive as possible without pushing the envelope that would cause troubles.” He ended.
