Beavercreek, Ohio (May 30, 2013) – All Brandon Oakley needed was a little confidence booster to
reenergize his 2013 racing season. It's not that the 18-year-old has had a bad season. He's third in
the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS Rookie of the Year points standings and ninth
overall in the series points. He also has a Feature Win in Weekly Late Models competition at his
home track of Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio.
However, in what can be described by the entire Brandon Oakley Racing Team as a potential
turning point to the current campaign came at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio
over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend on Saturday, May 25th in the CoughlinCars.com 100
Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance.
In 14 career JEGS/CRA appearances, Oakley's best finish was a 12th place which he
accomplished twice. What happened in Columbus, Ohio proved to Oakley and his entire crew that
all the bad luck was behind them and now they can reshift focus on the rest of the 2013 ARCA
/CRA Season after an impressive second place finish in the 100-lap main at the 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked circular shaped paved oval located in the Buckeye State's capital.
Now Oakley and crew will head to the 3/8s (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Springport Motor Speedway, located north of Jackson and south of Lansing in Springport, Michigan on Saturday, June 1st for the running of the Springport 125 for the third race of the 2013 season for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS.
"I'm excited to get to a track that I've been too before at Springport. We should be good there and we're coming off a strong run at Columbus and I think it's built a little momentum for us." Stated the Beavercreek, Ohio driver. "Hopefully we can get a good finish and stay up in the points chase in the ARCA/CRA Super Series." He added.
In a loaded rookie class within the 2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS season, Oakley is right in the thick of the freshman points battle with co-Rookie points leaders, 19-year-old Ali Kern and 15-year-old Anderson Bowen. Oakley is just eight markers out of that title chase heading into the third race of the year for the Salem, Indiana based series.
In Oakley's last ARCA/CRA race, the Sell It Again Sam 125 Presented by Great Deals Magazine at the fast ¼ (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana, Oakley qualified 13th and quickly worked his way into the top 10 and was riding when on lap 75, he suddenly veered straight into the turn one wall thus ending his night earlier than planned.
"We had a tough night at Anderson. Had a pretty good car and was just riding in the top 10 when something broke in the right front." Explained the 18-year-old "It's too bad, we were fast and just biding our time waiting to make a move towards the front and then all of a sudden the car went straight into the wall. We'll get that car fixed for later in the season." He ended.
