Midlothian, Illinois (May 29, 2013) – Lorz Motorsports and 2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by
JEGS Rookie of the Year title contender, Ali Kern have been waiting patiently since the scheduled
third race of the season at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan on May 11th was rained out. The next
race on the 2013 calendar wouldn't be for another three weeks. Well that time has come and gone
and Kern is itching to get back behind the wheel.
"We were disappointed that the May 11th Berlin race was postponed. I really wanted to race on my
Birthday and get some track time before the Battle at Berlin." The now 20-year-old stated. "The guys
at Lorz Motorsports have been doing a great job giving me fast cars each race." She added.
The new third race of the 2013 season within ARCA/CRA is set for Saturday, June 1st at the 3/8s
(0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval of Springport Motor Speedway, located north of Jackson and
south of Lansing in Springport, Michigan for the running of the Springport 125. Kern has raced at the
Central Michigan speed plant once before, a year ago in a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by
Chevrolet Performance and hopes that seat time will benefit her this time.
"We're looking forward to running Springport this weekend and so thankful our sponsor, Crown Battery, continues to support us. It seems like it's been such a long time since the last ARCA/CRA Super Series race." The Fremont, Ohio driver added. " I really liked running at the Springport track last year when we ran JEGS/CRA there. They have some great fans and it's encouraging and exciting to be sixth in points and tied with Anderson Bowen in rookie points. Hopefully we'll have a good run this weekend." She added.
"The Lorz Motorsports team is looking forward to going to Springport this weekend, the car is ready to go." Added Lorz Motorsports Car Owner, Mike Lorz. "Glad to get racing again seems like forever since our last race. Springport has been good to us we finished third last year and won in 2010. Hope to get another podium with Ali this weekend. She has done excellent job behind the wheel the last couple of races. I see a lot good things happening as the season gets rolling here. I also want to give heads up to the guys on the team as they working really hard this year." He ended.
So far in two events within the 2013 racing season, its Kern and Bowen tied on top of the Rookie Points Standings with Oakley only eight markers back with still a long way to go in the current season. But Kern and the Lorz team are very optimistic about their chances as she knows it’s going to be a long battle that could potentially come down to the last race; the 42nd running of the Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway on October 13th.
“We are really excited about our partnership with Lorz Motorsports and so far all of our hard work has paid off. “ Kern remarked. “We've had really fast cars the past two races." She said. In the last event, the Sell It Again Sam 125 Presented by Great Deals Magazine at the fast ¼ mile of Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana, Kern, the 2011 Champion in the now defunct TBRA Series, started the race ninth and overcame an adventurous race in Central Indiana to post a 10th place showing.
