Springport 125 is Race #3 of 2013

Salem, Indiana (May 28, 2013) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will head to Springport Motor Speedway located in Springport, Michigan for this Saturday’s Springport 125. Saturday’s race will be the second series race held at Springport Motor Speedway after last season’s exciting event that was won by Johnny VanDoorn after a grueling battle with Becca Kasten. The two battled side by side over the last 10 laps swapping the lead several times until VanDoorn was able to use the last car on the lead lap as a pick to get the lead for the last time and the win. Nate Caruth finished in third, Travis Braden fourth and Kenzie Ruston in fifth.

Top CRA regulars who are entered for Saturday’s race include Kenny Tweedy, Travis Braden, Rick Turner, Joe Beaver, Jay Niewiek, Nick Gullatta, Brent Jack, Tyler Roahrig, Brett Robinson, Jeep Pflum, Tommy Cook, as well as three time series Champion Scott Hantz and Terry Fisher Jr. who will both be making there 2013 series debuts. Former series regular Jason Shively will make a return to the series after not racing the past two seasons.

All the top Boyne Machine Rookie of the Year candidates are entered including Ali Kern and 15 year old Anderson Bowen, who are tied for the series rookie points lead after two events and Ohio teenager Brandon Oakley.

Lakeland, Florida native Steve Dorer is also set to make his 2013 series debut Saturday. Dorer has become a regular during the series summer months the past two seasons picking up two series wins in 2011. Canadian racer Jordan Sims has entered, so has Wisconsin racer Ed Szelagowski. Tom Woodin from nearby Battle Creek, Michigan is entered. Woodin is a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour regular but did make two series starts in 2012. Kalamazoo, Michigan’s Jerry Andrews is also entered and will also be making his 2013 series debut.

There is an open practice scheduled for Friday with pits opening at 12noon, practice will go from 2 to 8pm. Hauler Parking will begin on Saturday at 11am with pits opening at 1pm. Practice will begin at 3:30pm with qualifying beginning at 6:15pm. The race program will begin at 7pm with the Springport 125 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS along with racing action from the Springport Motor Speedway ABC divisions.
