Toledo, OH (March 22, 2013) – Angola, IN driver Scott Hantz is one of the first entries for the Saturday, April 20 “Border Wars” 7-Up 150 at Toledo Speedway.  The event will see the stock-bodied ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models and the ARCA Midwest Late Model tour paired together in competition for the first time in the history of the 2 groups.  A strong contingent of the top Late Model drivers is expected for the race, which opens up Toledo’s 2013 race schedule.

Hantz can lay claim to having the home-court advantage at Toledo’s fast ½ mile, high-banked paved oval.  Scott has collected 9 victories in his career at Toledo, including four in a row several years ago, which included wins in both his outlaw Late Model and his ARCA/CRA ride. A 3-time ARCA/CRA champion (2000, 2006, 2008), Scott is the all-time ARCA/CRA win leader with 30, (including 2 in 2012), tops the laps lead category (3192), and is also number one with 109 top 5 finishes and 137 top 10’s.

The “Border Wars” event pits the 2 groups against each other for short track racing bragging rights for stock-bodied Late Model racing.   ARCA’s CRA group features drivers mainly from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and points south, while the ARCA Midwest tour will bring teams to the Glass City from predominately Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. Both groups are now under the ARCA sanction, which opened the doors for the 2 groups to work together to make the 7-Up 150 a reality.  The event is race #2 for the 2013 ARCA/CRA season and the opener for ARCA’s Midwest Tour.

Hantz leads a strong stable of racers from the Hoosier state, all with experience at Toledo.  Plymouth, IN driver JR Roahrig has also filed his entry for the race.  JR is the track record holder for Outlaw Late Models at Toledo and has 1 victory to his credit.  Fellow Hoosier Brent Jack of Butler, IN is also a Toledo veteran, competing in both the Outlaw Late Models and the ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models.  Jack has 3 Toledo wins on his resume.  1997 ARCA/CRA champion Kenny Tweedy of Greenfield, IN has also filed his entry for the 7-Up 150 and has many laps under his belt at the track.

An optional open practice session is set for Friday, April 19 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.  All Friday pit pass purchasers will be treated to a bbq chicken dinner following the practice at the Speedway Bar and Grille, located adjacent to the track.

Race day, Saturday, April 20 will see practice begin at 11 a.m., time trials are set for 3 and racing starts at 5 p.m.  The schedule includes a last-chance race (if necessary), an on-track autograph session and the 7-Up 150 lap feature, which will be all green flag.  A 10 minute break is planned at lap 76 of the contest.  A rain date of Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m. has been established if necessary.
