As the 2013 racing season draws closer to officially beginning in the Midwestern United States, the Three-Time Cometic Gaskets Hard-Charger of the Year Award Winner, Jay Niewiek and the Jay Niewiek Motorsports Team have been busy in the Cutlerville, Michigan race shops preparing for an ambitious 2013 calendar with the stable of cars they plan on racing in a nearly 30-race schedule.
As the off-season preparations continue in addition to regrouping from mechanical problems in the first race for the 19-year-old of 2013 back on January 27th in SpeedFest 2013 at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia, Niewiek and crew are happy to announce that Michigan CAT of Grand Rapids has come on board as a major sponsor for the upcoming race season.
“We’re looking forward to the 2013 season to fully start up. Had a kick off at Watermelon Capital that we will just add to last year’s season since it didn’t start off that way we had planned with the mechanical issues.” Remarked Niewiek as he and the team continue preparations for the upcoming racing season. “We’ve got a new McGunegill Engine Performance motor ready to go and we’re looking forward to the big schedule and glad to have Michigan CAT on board.” He added.
For the remainder of the 2013 racing season and armed with the new Michigan CAT of Grand Rapids Sponsorship, Niewiek will make a run at the 2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship while also making as many appearances as the schedule allows in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance with the possibility of a full run at that title as well. In addition, he’ll also run select races at his home track of Berlin Raceway (MI) in the facilities’ seven-race Coors Light Silver Bullet Super Late Models Series.
“We’re hoping to get as much racing as possible in this year with ARCA/CRA, JEGS/CRA and our home track at Berlin,” The 19-year-old continued. “Definitely looking for a couple of wins and learning to qualify a lot better this year. That’s going to be the key to our success this season; Qualify better, start more towards the front instead of having to work so hard from the middle of the field or even farther back.” He explained.
The first race in the quest for the 2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship is set for Saturday, April 13th at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana as the fast ¼ (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval will host the traditional season opener for the series. “We’ve always ran good at Anderson. However we have the worst luck there. From mechanical to flat tires, to part failure, knock on wood, no bad crashes though. Looking forward to getting the year going.” Niewiek ended.
Michigan CAT of Grand Rapids seeks to build on its past by continuously improving customer service and its business systems.
