Roundup: SpeedFest 2013 Qualifying Day Saturday
The Fields are Set for Sunday's Features

The field is locked in and the stage is now set for SpeedFest 2013.
NASCAR veteran and Late Model graduate Johnny Sauter never shies away from getting back to his short track racing roots and his passion for it led him to set fast time for Sunday's ARCA/CRA Super Series SpeedFest 200-lap feature. Sauter, a Wisconsin native, set fast time over defending ARCA/CRA Super Series Southern Series Champion Kyle Benjamin and a 32-car field in a tight qualifying sessoin at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia Saturday afternoon. Alabama racer and Auburn University student Hunter Robbins was third quick, followed by Johnny Sauter's nephew Travis Sauter in fourth and Georgia racer Scotty Ellis in fifth. A post-qualifying redraw found Sauter draw the seven-pill, which will put Travis Braden and John Hunter Nemechek on the front row Sunday.
Thirty-two JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models took to Watermelon Capital Speedway, but all of them were chasing after the time set by Senoia, Georgia pilot Bubba Pollard. Pollard, who has won just about every short track Pro and Super Late Model race in his career but SpeedFest, set fast time with his No. 42 Pro Late Model Saturday, touring the 3/8-mile track with a lap time of 15.984-seconds. Defending SpeedFest JEGS Tour winner Chase Elliott was second-quick, followed by Alabama racers Justin South and Hunter Robbins with Georgian Dalton Grindle rounding out the top five. After qualifying, Pollard drew an eight for the invert, which will put a pair of young drivers, Floridian Kyle Bryant and Ohioan Cody Coughlin on the front row for Sunday's 100-lap Premier Building Systems 100.
Sunday is SpeedFest 2013 race day. Pit gates open at 8:30am and at 9am, hauler removal will begin to allow the fans that are sure to pack the Watermelon Capital Speedway grandtands the best view of the action. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the drivers of SpeedFest 2013 with an autograph session at 12:30pm. The autograph session will go until 1:15, at which time the front stretch will be cleared for driver introductions at 1:30. Feature racing begins at 2:00pm, starting with the JEGS/CRA Premier Building Systems 100 followed by the ARCA/CRA Super Series SpeedFest 200.
Tickets can be purchased at the Watermelon Capital Speedway box office.
