2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series Rookie Of The Year, Ali Kern Is Already Focused On 2014 And A Run At The Title
2013 Runner-Up Overall Looking For One More Spot Up The Standings in 2014 (Special from Lorz Motorsports)
November 14, 2013
Midlothian, Illinois (November 14, 2013) – Ali Kern became the first woman in Champion
Racing Association's (CRA) 17-year history to Win the Rookie of the Year title in CRA's
premier tour; the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS.  A major accomplishment
to say the least in the premier Super Late Models tour in the country. An achievement that
is certainly not overlooked by the 20-year-old.

"The 'Master Plan' before the season started was to have everyone from both teams (Ali
Kern Motorsports & Lorz Motorsports) show up every race prepared.  I'm pretty sure we
executed that plan." The Fremont, Ohio driver reflected upon her 2013 racing season.
"Wow, what a season!  This is my third Rookie of the Year award in three different touring
series." She added. Kern was also the top freshman in the USA Modifieds Series (Now
Top Speed Modifieds Tour) in 2010 as well as in the TBRA Late Model Series in 2011, that
year she also won the overall series title.

"To win ROTY in the ARCA/CRA Super Series is a huge honor.  To be the first female
race car driver to do so is just the cherry on top.  I really hope I'm sending a strong
message to all the up and coming female racers that we have the ability to make history
and make some noise." She offered.

"2013 was my 14th year of racing.  Without my parents support, I wouldn't be where I am today.  Not only for their financial support but for their sacrifice and encouragement." The appreciative 20-year-old continued. "I'm very blessed to have my family, friends and fans cheering me on.  I need to give a shout out to my long time sponsor, Crown Battery & Hal Hawk, who continue to support me."

"Also a huge Thank You to Mike, Dan & Bob Lorz with Lorz Motorsports and all of their amazing crew.  What a great group of people to work with.  We've become good friends with all of them and that's really important to have great chemistry especially when you're having a bad day at the track." Our plan is for Ali Kern Motorsports & Lorz Motorsports to run in the ARCA/CRA Super Series in 2014.  Hopefully, we can top what we accomplished in 2013." Kern announced.

Overall during the season, Kern finished second in the ARCA/CRA Super Series points standings as she bested Inaugural Series Champion from the 1997 season, Kenny Tweedy by just a single point to secure the Runner-Up position. Another veteran campaigner, Rick Turner was only eight points back of Kern in a very tight race for positions second through fourth. Another accomplishment that Kern is well aware of.

"Despite having our ups and downs this season, we never took our eyes off the prize.  Finishing runner-up overall was amazing. Congratulations to Travis Braden on the Championship and Thank You to the two veterans, Kenny Tweedy and Rick Turner for making us work even harder to finish P2.  We also want to thank Glenn Luckett and everyone with the ARCA/CRA Super Series for running a professional and highly respected touring series." She stated.

In 14 races during the 2013 racing season within the ARCA/CRA Super Series, Kern collected three top five finishes, with two of those being her career high runner-up showings during the Michigan Doubleheader Weekend back on August 16-17th at Auto City Speedway (MI) and the next night at Flat Rock Speedway (MI). She also scored five top 10 finishes as well.

"What an awesome season for both Lorz Motorsports and Ali Kern Motorsports. First of all I am very proud of Ali and her accomplishments this season and also very proud of crew chief Dan Lorz and the entire team." Added Car Owner, Mike Lorz. "I would like to give a big thanks to the crew that worked very hard all season long and the countless hours that it takes to run up front in the ARCA/CRA Super Series." He added.

"I have to thank the following; Dan Lorz, Bob Lorz, Phil Hollendonner, Greg Drabrandt, Kevin Zielezinski, Don Udoni, John & Bob Mac, Don Richardson, Lynne Lorz, Amanda Lorz, also Thanks to Mike and Kathi Kern and Jake Dukeshire for supporting Ali this season." Lorz continued. "We look forward to 2014 with Ali. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us in the off season and we want to make sure we are ahead the game in 2014 so we can show people this was not a fluke season. Our goal is win the title and win some races." He ended.
