Ali Kern To Clinch 2013 Rookie Of The Year Title During The 42nd Running Of The Winchester 400
Sitting Second Overall in Points Heading into Biggest Race of Her Career (Special from Lorz Motorsports)
October 9, 2013
Midlothian, Illinois (October 9, 2013) – As soon as she takes the green flag for the 42nd
running of the Winchester 400, Ali Kern will become the first woman in Champion Racing
Association's (CRA) 17-year history to Win the Rookie of the Year title in the ARCA/CRA
Super Series Powered by JEGS.  A major accomplishment to say the least in the premier
Super Late Models tour in the country. An achievement that is certainly not overlooked by
the 20-year-old.

"I'm really excited about running the Winchester 400. What an iconic race to be a part of."
The Fremont, Ohio freshman states as she prepares for her third trip of the season to the
legendary 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester,
Indiana for one of the biggest short track races in the country. "It's pretty humbling to be
coming into this event second in points and prepared to win the Rookie of the Year title.
What a great season we've had with Lorz Motorsports." She added.

Going into the 400, Kern is also second overall in ARCA/CRA  points as she'll carry a slim
11-point advantage over Inaugural Series Champion from the 1997 season, Kenny Tweedy.
In addition, another veteran, Rick Turner is only five markers back of Tweedy so while the
overall championship has already been clinched by Travis Braden, the race for the runner-
up spot in the final point's standings is still up for grabs between Kern, Tweedy and Turner.

Her familiar #28 Lorz Motorsports / Ford will also be sporting some new colors and decals for the race; "We will be partnering with the 'Fight Like A Girl Club' for the Winchester 400 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month." She continued. "I chose them to put on the hood because I wanted to do my part in spreading their message.  A shout out to Sandy Ellis Founder/President of FLAGC for allowing me to represent them."

Her Car Owner, Mike Lorz of Lorz Motorsports is just as excited about the 400 as his driver; "We're looking forward to competing at the Winchester 400 and would like to thank ARCA/CRA for running a great program this year." He stated. "We will be ready to go. A lot of work and strategy goes into preparing for the 400. It is the biggest race of the year for everyone here with Lorz Motorsports, so we are pumped and ready to go." He added.

In the last ARCA/CRA event for Kern and Lorz at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana during the T.J. Racing Lubricants 100 Presented by Quarter Master back on September 22nd, Kern was involved in a massive 11-car pile-up, not of her doing, but persevered to a 13th place finish. "I was in the outside lane and had no place to go. What a mess." She explained. "A lot of good cars got tore up.  I can't say enough how proud I am of my crew who pounded and taped the car back together so I could run the last 15 laps and finish P13.  My crew is amazing.  I got a little carbon monoxide poisoning driving half a car but a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do." Kern smiled.

"All I can say is that I'm very proud of Ali and this entire Lorz Motorsports team, especially after what happened in Indy. It has been an awesome year and now we need to finish the season on a good note."

Overall in ARCA/CRA Super Series competition during the 2013 racing season, she has garnered three top five finishes, with two of those being her career high runner-up showings during the Michigan Doubleheader Weekend back on August 16-17th at Auto City Speedway in Clio, Michigan and the next night at Flat Rock Speedway in Flat Rock, Michigan. She has five top 10 finishes as well.

For the remainder of the 2013 racing season and for the Winchester 400 Kern’s popular  #28 Lorz  Motorsports / Ford Fusion will carry decals from the 'Fight Like A Girl Club' in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month as well as Crown Batteries, Gorilla Glue, HotelPlanner.com, New Garde Racing, AGW/TSMI, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, A.S.I.
