ARCA/CRA Super Series Teams Have a Lot on the Line in Sunday’s Winchester 400
Johnny VanDoorn has $100,000 Reasons to Win
October 7, 2013
Salem, Indiana (October 7, 2013) – Even though Travis Braden has already locked up the
2013 ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS Points Championship for car owner
Gary Estes, there is still a lot on the line for several series drivers heading into Sunday’s
Winchester 400, the 2013 Season Championship event for the ARCA/CRA Super Series
on the High Banks of Charlie Shaw’s Winchester Speedway.

Braden and Johnny VanDoorn are currently tied for most victories during the 2013 season
with four apiece, both would like to add their first ever Winchester 400 win to their great
2013 seasons and become the series victory leader for the season. VanDoorn has just a
little more on the line if he can win Sunday, he has an opportunity to claim the JEGS/
CRA Super Late Model $100,000 Triple Crown Bonus if he can win the Winchester 400.
VanDoorn won the first two legs in the Triple Crown which were the June 15th, Berlin 251
and the Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway on July 20th, which guarantees him a
minimum $10,000 bonus, but now the all-time series win leader at Winchester Speedway,
including winning the tune-up to the 400 on Labor Day Weekend, has the chance to
claim his first ever Winchester Rifle Trophy and walk away with a $100,000 cash bonus!

Ali Kern comes into Sunday’s race just needing to start the race to be crowned the 2013
Boyne Machine Company Rookie of the Year, but Kern is also currently second in series
Championship points heading into Sunday’s event, but she will have to battle series
veterans Kenny Tweedy and Rick Turner to hold on to that spot. Tweedy is currently in
third place, 11 points behind Kern. Turner is currently in fourth place, he is 16 points
behind Kern. Kern is still seeking her first series victory after getting two second place
finishes during the 2013 season. Tweedy and Turner have both dreamed for years about
winning the Winchester 400, as they reach the twilight of their careers, both are still hungry to get the famed Winchester Rifle Trophy.

Brandon Oakley has locked up fifth place in series points. He will also finish as the runner-up to Kern in 2013 Boyne Machine Company Rookie of the Year points. Oakley looks to improve upon his series and season high third place finish.  Veteran Central Indiana racer Joe Beaver will jump back behind Tim Bennett’s #21 car for the Winchester 400 Sunday. Beaver is one of three different drivers to race the #21 during a trying 2013 season for Bennett, the team is already locked into a sixth place finish in series 2013 Owners Points. A win in the 400 would be a great way for Beaver to cap his great career and for Bennett, a long time car owner with CRA.

There will be a full field of talent competing for the win in Sunday’s Winchester 400 as the best late model drivers in the country come to the High Banks to battle the best of the ARCA/CRA Super Series in an event that has continued to be one of the top asphalt racing traditions in the country.
